Rocky was 14 years old when his owner died so he had to be sent to Anne Arundel County Animal Shelter.

Because of his old age, Rocky had a hard time finding a new home because people prefer to take younger dogs, thinking that they have more years to live, have fewer health problems, and are easier to train.

Rocky was approaching his fourth Christmas in the shelter when something amazing happened.

Although Beth and Michael thought they couldn’t have their own dog yet at that time, there was something about Rocky that drove them to take him home after they decided to donate some food to the shelter.

The couple took Rocky for a walk around the block, and after realizing that he was sweet and loving and perfect for them, they adopted Rocky just in time for Christmas.

Six months after Beth and Michael had adopted Rocky, they found out that they were expecting a baby.

Knowing that Rocky was a loving dog, the couple was not surprised when they saw that he was super caring with Hazel, their new baby.

Just a few weeks after Hazel’s birth, Rocky became sick. They rushed him to the vet but there was nothing that they could do, and so Rocky passed away at the age of 19.

After all, the couple was content with the amazing two years that they had with Rocky, and they’re sure that the dog also had the best last years of his life spent with a loving family.
