Getting revenge on someone can be as little as tying their shoes together to watch them trip in front of everyone or as serious as making sure they get fired from their dream job. Normally when the average person gets revenge, though, it’s somewhere in the middle but often leans slightly more towards a milder act. Ultimately, the goal is to hurt an enemy just enough to get them to stop treating us badly, get them to apologize to us, or even to guilt them, not to necessarily ruin their entire life.
But some people aren’t so forgiving of people’s wrongdoings. Rumor has it that there’s someone out there who put their landlord about $6,000 in the hole for trying to charge an $80 deposit for “cleaning.” And another pulled pro revenge on their jerk professor who kept sabotaging their grade, only for the professor to end up fired while the victim student ended up with an ‘A’ in the course.
Rumor has it that those “rumors” are true. You can read these true revenge stories below, along with other great stories!
11. Nobody Threatens To Beat Up My Roommate
“During my second year in college, I lived with 3 friends in a house that had another 4 other guys living on the other side of the house.
The two sides of the house had a lot of mutual friends as my roommates had known them from high school. So we had tons of parties together during the year and got along pretty good….. until a few months before final exams.
Each side of the house had its own electric, water, and cable bills which we paid separately. I always handled our bills and paid them each month, but our water bill was actually in my roommate’s name – I’ll call him Bird*. So one day the biggest turd on the other side of the house, Le D*uche*, who handled their bills, walked into our house when I wasn’t there and confronted little Bird and yelled at him saying we owed him over $500.
Apparently, their water bill each month was about $125 and ours was $40-$50. Le D*uche thought there had to be a mistake in the billing so we should split the bills down the middle. After I was told about this confrontation, I contacted the water company and asked about the billing. I was told over the phone the bills were specifically split up to each side of the house but a person would come out to check the water meters.
The next day a technician stopped by and looked at the meters to make sure they were operating correctly and that they were billing to the separate sides of the house. He confirmed there wasn’t an issue with the meters or billing and basically said they are probably using more water – end of story.
I told my roommates about this but because of my schedule, I didn’t see Le D*uche for about a week. During that time he confronted little Bird a couple more times who told him about the water company’s position but again he was yelled at, inside our own house, and was again told that we needed to split the bills with them. Then the weekend comes. My roommates and I head to a house party hosted by some mutual friends. At some point during the party, I was in the front yard when a friend runs up to me and says Le D*uche is trying to fight little Bird. We run to the backyard and through about 50 people I can see Le D*uche, with his roommates behind him, in the middle of the circle pushing Bird, yelling that he owes him money, and him throwing him onto a beer pong table where he held him down saying he was going to beat Bird’s ***.
I nearly lose my mind as I see this and immediately grab Le D*uche, say a few choice things, and shove him away. I wanted to do more but it wasn’t worth it…..yet.
So Le D*uche and I actually had a class together. We weren’t friends, never sat together, and since the whole water bill incident we never even looked at each other in the 500 person lecture. He always sat with one of his roommates and I sat with one of my best friends, Rose*. As the water bill fight somewhat subsided and the final exam got near, Le D*uche and his roommate started to act more civil and would even make small talk to Rose and me in the hall about the final worth 75% of the grade, topics to study, blah blah blah.
They knew Rose and I had A’s in the class. It wasn’t a very difficult class but I enjoyed it and actually studied quite a bit and knew I’d probably get an A and maybe I had let Rose cheat off me on the first test. I told Rose I had a feeling Le D*uche and his roommate were up to something since they were being so nice and that I expected them to try and cheat off us.
So I came up with a plan if they tried.
Now the format of the test is important. It was a packet of questions with the answers “A, B, C, D” listed vertically – and then you transfer your answers to a bubble scantron, which is another sheet of paper that gets put through a machine (not sure how familiar people are with it).
With this format I told Rose that I would circle an answer, she would look over and circle the same answer with a big circle, ensuring that anyone looking could see. We would do this for the entire 100 questions final before marking our answers on the scantron. The key to the revenge plan was that the actual answer was always going to be the answer directly below the circled answer. So if we circle A, the answer we put on the scantron is B. If the circle answer is D, the answer we put is A.
For a few days I kind of thought I was being weird and crazy to come up with this plan because there was no way this guy actually thought he would cheat and I was blinded by anger.
Either way, when the day of the final exam came we got to the room early and I sat on the far right seat of a row with Rose to my left.
Guess who strolls in and decides to sit next to us for the first time all year after he threatened to beat up my best friend a month before…… oh yeah, Le D*uche. Dude had no shame and snuggled right in the seat next to Rose with his roommate next to him. Rose and I could barely believe it and had to use some serious composure before the test started. The two of us operated like a well-oiled machine – we circled our ‘answers’ large and at the end, we went back through and marked the correct answers onto the scantron.
During the test, we could both see Le D*uche and his roommate leaning and copying our circled answers. Unreal.
Fast forward to the summer break and Le D*uche’s roommate came over to our side of the house when he saw Rose was there was with me. He opened a beer and chatted for a bit before he finally got to what we were waiting for, “So how did you guys do on that test?” I remember looking at Rose and saying something like, “I don’t remember exactly, but I know I ended up with an ‘A’ in the class” and she chimes in saying, “Yeah, that sounds about right because I got a 92 on the test”.
The look on his face told us everything we needed to know and he mumbled out, “REALLY? Le D*uche and I both failed and have to take the class again…..” mountaintrekker
10. Job Disappears During Interview? I’ll Drive The Local Rental Car 800 Miles Home
How unprofessional of this company!
“During the dotCom boom in the late 90s, I became somewhat well known for my expertise with a now somewhat obsolete networking technology. I ended up getting heavily recruited by a big telecom firm in Denver to run the technical side of a huge networking project they had underway. After multiple phone interviews, I was invited out for the big in-person sit-down, a two-day affair where I met with the big dogs, other techies, HR, etc.
It was a pretty killer opportunity.
I took the trip. The first day of meetings went great, I felt it was a great match, etc. I did sense there was some tension between two groups over network architecture; it turned out that was one of the reasons they were bringing in someone more senior who could finalize the approach and get the project moving. That was fine, all part of the job, whatever. Got wined and dined after the first day, was definitely feeling like the job was a match and that I’d be moving to Denver.
I went in the second day and after another round of interviews, the division head takes me to lunch.
That’s when it all blew up.
While we were at lunch the firm’s senior management canned the entire project and fired every person associated with it. Apparently there was a huge internal political war going on, this project was ground zero for the big battle and this division just lost.
We get back from lunch and the manager escorts me to HR where we’re going to sit down and go over their offer. Instead, he’s told what’s going on and that he’s out of a job along with everyone else on the project. At this point, I was told to leave. No apologies, it was just sh*tty luck for me. ***? OK then, I’m gone.
I get back to the hotel and there’s a voicemail for me asking me to call the HR people.
I’m p*ssed but I call. They tell me they’ve had to cancel my return ticket and that I’d need to pay for the hotel myself for now, but that if I would submit an expense report they’d be able to get me a check. There’s a second voicemail from the front desk asking me to provide a credit card for the stay.
And then I get a call on my cell phone from the car rental company which I didn’t answer. Turns out they also wanted my credit card.
***.* That.
I called the airline and they said my reservation had indeed been canceled. But they also acknowledged that the reservation was paid for using a “fully refundable” ticket – which I was holding and which back in the ’90s was essentially as good as cash.
Said they wouldn’t know for certain if I could board until I showed up at the counter with the physical ticket.
Great. Just ******* great. I’m on the hook for several thousand in airfare, nice hotel, and rental car after taking several days of vacation from my job for this interview? I don’t think so.
Here’s the revenge:
I packed my bags and loaded up the rental car. Left the keys in the hotel room door. Drove the rental car back to Dallas (stayed overnight in Amarillo). Dropped the rental at the Hertz lot at DFW airport, took their shuttle to the terminal I’d left my car at and drove home.
Over the next few months, I got several nasty phone calls from their HR and accounting departments demanding I pay them back for the trip including paying for the $700 drop off fee for the car.
Never answer them of course, just let them go to voicemail. Eventually got a demand letter from their legal department, paid an attorney a nominal fee to send them a demand for compensation / threaten a lawsuit letter. I never heard from the firm again.
Side note: the ticket itself was still valid. I ended up selling it to a friend at a big discount and he was able to use it.” ExPostRedemptore
Another User Comments:
“For a “big telecom firm,” that is incredibly petty and bush-league behavior. I get that projects get canceled and turf wars have winners and losers, but treating someone the company pursued and wooed like an internal insurgent to be eradicated by the new regime is ridiculous.
They had to know that this would spread the word among your contacts and peers (you know, the kind of folks they might want to hire in the future) that they were a **** show that smart professionals should avoid.
Short of you assaulting someone in the interview, the only reasonable action for them would be to say, “Unfortunately, the position is no longer available. Thank you for your time and consideration. The hotel and rent car is paid through tomorrow morning. I hope you have a smooth trip home.
Perhaps we will have future opportunities to work together.” The combined costs of your travel were probably worth two hours worth of rounding errors on their global billing.” tmlynch
9. Try To Scam Me Out Of $80? You’ll Lose Nearly $6,000
If he was honest from the start, this wouldn’t have had to happen.
“Background:
About 10 years ago my landlord died. Or at least the person who owned the place we were renting. The property managers had been delightful, but whoever inherited wanted to sell, so the house was for sale.
Enter a jacka*s–we’ll call him Jack–who decides to buy the place. Now ours was the top floor (ie: attic converted into a suite) of a house, less than 35sq meters (375sq feet). The bathroom was literally where the stairs up to the top floor used to be. The place was tiny.
Jack came to check out the place, as you should before buying a place. He had one of those blue-tooth earpieces in and I can’t even remember if he even acknowledged us.
He spent about 30-45 seconds in our suite.
The next time we hear from him about a month later, apparently, he’d bought the place. He stops by to give us a notice of rent increase, effective in 6 months (the legal minimum).
From $485 to $795. The place is not worth that much.
We say nuts to that and decide to buy a house, since WTH it’s not much more per month (a surprise to anyone who’s never bought a house: it _was_ more than just mortgage payments). We give him all the required notice to move out. We move and clean the place up really well. Mind you, when my partner moved in it was not especially clean (and we happen to have the move-in inspection which mentions this).
Jack decides to try to scam us for $80 of our damage deposit for ‘cleaning.’ He doesn’t provide the required forms, he just says, “I’m going to hold $80 from your damage deposit for cleaning.”
We respond with: Um, no. You’re not.
Jack (assuming we need the cash for our next damage deposit or bills and will settle for anything): Take this or I’m going to keep your whole deposit.
Cue Revenge:
So he decides to just keep the whole deposit ($485).
I file paperwork with the rentals man: who unsurprisingly, after their investigation, rule in my favor. He’s ordered to refund the whole deposit. But Jack decides, not to pay. And the rentalsman doesn’t have any enforcement powers.
So I have to go to the local sheriff’s office.
They can send a legal demand letter for the deposit + costs. But it will cost me $100-150 (I forget) upfront. Sure go ahead.
Jack decides to ignore the sheriff’s kindly letter.
Sheriffs say that they can start proceedings to recover the debt + costs, but I again have to pay up-front: about $250, and it might take quite a while.
I guess most people quit at this point. Being out of pocket ~$700, throwing more money at the problem and maybe having to wait months didn’t appeal to them. And there’s also a chance you never collect.
I chose to pay for the sheriffs. They sent another, less friendly letter to Jack. But here’s the best part: now that they’re recovering a debt, they’re going to recover on ALL of the outstanding judgments against him.
And apparently he has tried this **** before.
They send him another couple of letters: pay up or else.
Jack chose else.
Then they seize title to Jack’s giant white SUV (I can’t remember what it was, but not a cheap one). They didn’t physically take it away or anything, but they gave him 30 days to pay all the judgments against him or they would take it and sell it at auction.
Somehow he all of a sudden found the money. My share: $485+$150+$250=$885. The other people who’d registered judgments, but not paid to start the collections processes were about $5,000 more. I can’t remember how long the whole process took, at least 6 months though.” UnderwhelmingTwin
8. He Was Arrested On The Spot
“A little over ten years ago, when I was a young carpenter, I met a guy who I’ll call “Chad” because **** Chad.
Chad was a new hire by the company I was working for and became my helper. We got along famously even though he was 10 years older than me, he didn’t mind working under a 23-year-old carpenter as an apprentice.
Chad and I had worked together for 6 months when he brought up the idea of starting a business together, he figured between the two of us, we could easily run a crew and build houses.
After talking it over with my pregnant girlfriend (now wife) we decided that it would be better for me to be an employee, but still a 50% partner for tax reasons, and insurance purposes. Chad said that was fine with him. So we started laying out who was take care of certain aspects of the business.
Chad was to be the guy to find work, as I look (and still do) way younger than I am, and it’s doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in the client to think their framer is 16. Chad was also to take care of payroll, insurance, and, any other financial factions.
My duties were simple. Staff and run the crew, and keep on budget, something that came easy to me. I was to be paid an hourly wage, as well as 50% of profit after all business expenses. I never took my profit draw, as I rolled it back into growing the company.
Things were great for about six months, the crew was working well together, we had a few houses under our belts, and a contract for a 10,000 square foot custom house with multiple out-buildings.
Things were great.
So chad has never built a foundation, and we usually hired a crew to put the foundation in for us, as like I said Chad has never built one, and I personally hate concrete work.
We couldn’t get our normal foundation crew in, so I stepped up and said: “**** it, I’ll do it myself.”
The company we were building for is one of the best custom home builders around, and doing a good job on this house could mean that we wouldn’t have to pound the pavement looking for work, work would be given to us.
Perfect arraignment.
Until it wasn’t.
Chad started spending money like it was going out of style. He sold his 2500 Chevy pickup and bought a new Jeep Wrangler.
He had the jeep for about a month before he sunk it in the water while 4x4ing, and it ” caught on fire” mysteriously a few days after.
He received the insurance payout and bought a brand new dodge 2500 power wagon, which he (in short order) sunk in water within a few weeks.
I never noticed the red flags as Chad and I rarely spoke face to face, he was the business side, I was the “get **** done” side.
I finished the foundation and picked up the cheque from the builder. The builder said that we over billed him by 25% but he was happy with the work we (I) done, but not to overbill again, as he doesn’t like overpaying, as there may not be any money left at the end of the build.
I apologized, and asked him to cancel the cheque, and issue one for the work actually completed, he agreed too and said ” I’m so happy to have honest people working for me”
I usually don’t pick up the cheques, nor did I ever really look at the books, as it wasn’t in the scope of my responsibilities.
This prompted me to log onto our corporate account and see that we are so far in the red, that we couldn’t afford to buy a red pen, let alone cover payroll.
I showed up at Chad’s house and tore a strip off of him, he apologized and a promised to top up the account with his personal “profit draw” money.
I go into work Monday to find the locks on our tool bin had been changed, my name removed from all accounts, and a letter taped to the tool bin stating I was “dismissed from my duties” for an undisclosed reason.
I was ******* furious. I was not aware that as a business partner I could be fired.
I found another job quite quickly and tried my best to put it behind me.
That’s when I found out where the money was going, and that Chad had been slandering my name around town, blaming me for the missing money, as well as a bunch of egregious statements about my work ethic, trade skills, mental stability, and home life.
Now, I fastidiously tracked all of our interactions with a simple journal and had backups of the transactions of our business account.
I also happened to have backups of all our texts, voicemails, and pictures of everything.
This is the revenge part.
I took the “evidence” to my father’s lawyer (RIP) friend, who started a fraud/embezzlement investigation through the CRA (Canadian revenue agency, Canada’s IRS) and called the insurance provider to make sure they were being paid. (They had never received anything)
I called the builder whom we were building for and explained what was happening. He told me that Chad had essentially stolen around $30,000 for payment of work not completed, and had broken into their office and stolen another $15,000 (replacement value) of equipment and tools.
I did what anyone would do.
I called the police.
Police said they couldn’t help me and said it was a civil case.
And the builder said he wasn’t going to sue, as Chad had no money, and it wasn’t worth the headache.
So I called his auto insurance company. Sent them all the pictures of his sunk vehicles, texts about them, and a short video he sent of him lighting the jeep on fire.
The insurance company filed charges against Chad, and won, Chad is on the hook for around $130,000.
I’ve spent the last 9.5 years telling anyone who’ll listen about Chad, and o have had him essentially blackballed from the carpentry industry around here because it’s not slander if it’s true.
I have also looked up his criminal history, as it is public domain every 3 months or so and make a point of showing up at his court proceedings or offering myself as a character reference for the crown (prosecution).
So I’ve gone out of my way to remind Chad that he can’t **** me over without repercussions. And no, this doesn’t end here.
Years have passed, and I am still p*ssed off.
I receive a call from a guy offering me a job. It was the builder that Chad screwed over, not remembering that we know each other after I explained who I was, and this bridge is burnt due to Chad.
He still offers me the job. Medical dental, company van, gas card, corporate credit card. I accept his offer.
The first order of business, find another way to **** with Chad. Through the *********, I find where Chad is living and working. The new boss calls the company Chad is working for, and Chad is summarily fired.
I get in touch with Chad’s landlord, explain how he operates, and Chad is evicted for unpaid rent. He was apparently a couple of months behind.
I also managed to get his girlfriend’s phone number call her and explain what this guy does to people, and his extensive criminal history, including, but not limited to fraud, identity theft, insurance fraud, his many assaults, and his wanted picture published in the paper.
Turns out she is the owner of his truck, primary operator, but he pays the insurance. He cannot insure a vehicle until he pays off what he owes for the fraud.
She asks me what she should do. I say that I’ll take care of it.
I call the insurance provider, explain what is going on, for them to tell me he doesn’t even have a license anymore.
They void the insurance on his (girlfriends) truck after speaking to her and set up a sting with the police. I personally get to be involved as I knew what was going on.
So I sit and wait for the day it goes down. I roll up behind the unmarked police cruiser and quickly explain who I am and what my plans are.
The police are thinking that they are just waiting to pull him over for driving without a license, and no insurance, I said I’m going to call him immediately as soon as I see him.
So he comes cruising out, and I make the call, he actually picked up the phone to call me a bunch of names, and the “n” word.
(I am as white as the freshly fallen snow) and promptly gets pulled over.
Police issue a ticket for;
Reckless driving No seat belt No license Using a handheld device.
During this, the girlfriend pulls up and proceeds to give consent to search her truck.
In the truck, they find multiple id’s, stolen credit cards, a couple of ATM skimmer machines, and a fake police badge.
He was arrested on the spot.
Revenge over, right?
Nope.
Police then ask to search the residence he was living at, he moved into the girlfriend’s house after I had him evicted from his own place.
In the garage, they find a vast collection of stolen tools, a lot of which belonged to the builder I was working for, from when he broke into their office, and they were all stupidly still labeled with the company’s inventory control stickers.
This brought on more charges, and he was remanded to police custody until his trial date.
Well, justice is sometimes slow here in Canada, and his trial date was at the time, 17 months into the future.
Well, yesterday was his trial date, so my boss (who Chad ripped off) Chad’s ex-girlfriend and I attend the hearing. Just to see the man squirm.
His judgment was 8 years in jail (after being granted time and a half for time served) a $100,000 dollar fine, 1000 hours community services after release, and no possibility of parole.
I got to watch him be taken away in chains twice.
Never underestimate the fury of a quiet man.
And **** Chad.” Strofari
7. Destroy My Tree, You Better Pay Up!
“It’s been 2 years and I can finally post about this.
this is juicy so get ready.
Background information: we live in an old and big manor that has been split into 3 attached houses. The houses are about 150 years old and where built around 5 huge giant sequoias which were about 200 years old. In the UK giant sequoias are very rare and the 2 in our garden up the house price by about £60,000. We lived next to 2 really nice neighbors one young couple and one old couple.
The story: unfortunately, our old neighbors p***ed away, so their child and her family moved in (let’s call her Joe). Joe was instantly a pain in the *** we had been shearing chickens with the previous neighbors and Joe agreed to keep shearing them however on her nights she would constantly forget to put them away so we would have to check them every night anyway.
One night her little brats fought it would be funny to open our personal duck pen in the night which leads to a m*** slaughter later the chickens went the same way.
About 2 years ago there was a storm and one of her sequoias somehow fell over and died they were distraught (understandably) but from then on, the jealousy started. She would constantly complain about how lucky we were to have 2 sequoias in our garden and how our sequoia was making too much shade in their garden (it wasn’t) anyway we just thought it was Joe being a pain, there were a few dry threats like they will chop it down or maybe the next storm will blow it down.
Until we came back from a holiday to France to find a huge 6-meter stump and nothing else! I mean how the **** do you get rid of a 100ft tree in like 2 weeks. 2 of our old British oak trees had been crushed as well. My mum and sisters were crying. My dad was red in the face and we had no evidence Joe had done it. She claimed that there had been a storm and she had to get rid of it. we had a security camera at the front of the house, but you can get in the back if you go through a few fields.
We then were given an £8000 bill for damages to her property and to have the tree chopped up and removed the wood alone would have been worth a small fortune.
We had lost all hope and 2 weeks had passed when my dad came running in from the garden. We had put up a wildlife camera a few months ago and had caught everything, we got a lawyer on the phone and started our revenge. We got a tree surgeon out who said it was an original specimen brought into the UK in 1860 along with the 2 that were in Elvaston castle country park there were 218 around the UK but only 60 now, he also told us to call out an engineer because the roots might be in the foundation so when they rot it could damage the house, turns out we would need to redo the foundations.
Then we took Joe to court and sued them for damage to property, trespassing and emotional damage. The tree would cost 250K to have another sequoia that was 250 years put in and looked after (it’s basically impossible) plus the damage to the foundation which was 200K and the 2 oaks which were another 25k. so with the emotional, It went to about £500,000 ($700,000). They had to move out.
And we have now paid off the mortgage done a lovely loft and kitchen conversion and have basically done up the house and garden as well as plant a 60-year-old sequoia tree in the back garden.
We also had our kitchen counter and table made from the old sequoia.
We now have a new lovely family living next to us who we share chickens, ducks and pygmy goats with (there very nice and I make a fortune babysitting their kids).” j3r3my
6. I Was Fired For A BS Reason, So I Fought For A Nice Settlement
“It happened about a year ago, in the fall of 2018.
I used to work at a distribution warehouse and last summer I got stress and depression that was so bad I got anxiety attacks because of it from the bad work environment. It was mainly caused by a specific employee and the CEO.
I was having way more sick days than before and got asked for a doctor’s note in a meeting between me, the CEO, and the guy who basically ran the company, Cedric (he was great and seemed concerned about me, while the CEO more seemed annoyed that my sick days were higher than normal for me).
We filled out the part of the doctor’s note that is supposed to be filled by the employee and the company, and I booked an appointment with my doctor.
The doctor concluded that I had stress and depression that caused me to have anxiety attacks.
He recommended that I got allowed small breaks for fresh air (very bad air quality in the warehouse) and that I go down from 35 hours a week to 20. He also recommended I get therapy. The bill got sent directly to the company.
I was pretty wound up after the appointment and called them and explained that the bill was being sent to them. I didn’t feel great afterward, so I told them I would be taking the rest of the day off.
It was about two hours before I usually got off and I had worked before the appointment. They were very understanding and nice.
The next day I was working I talked to Cedric about the doctor’s note. We agreed that I would have an extra day off, so that I only worked two days in a row between days off, that I would have a longer lunch break (to make the math add up), and that I would come in later which was my idea as I know that’s when they’re most busy which I pointed out to him. The CEO wasn’t part of this convo because he wasn’t in that day.
The next Thursday I get called into a meeting with both of them again for Friday.
I assumed it was to talk about how it had worked this last week with my adjusted schedule and maybe change it slightly. The CEO was his normal unpleasant self and Cedric seemed unusually silent and uncomfortable. The CEO went through the doctor’s note with me, saying he didn’t understand the part about fresh air. I explained and told him how I felt the new schedule had worked, how much better it already seemed to be for me, despite the only thing having been put in was me having Wednesday off. He then slid a piece of paper across the desk to me and informed me I was being fired. I was shocked, read the paper through, and signed it since there was nothing else I could do.
I was given my copy of it and then they walked with me to the warehouse where it was announced to the others. My boss was just as shocked as me and angry because she liked me and had not been informed. I went home after that.
I contacted my union, sending them the copy I had, a copy of my contract, and explained the timeline. I wasn’t working since that day, be*******cause* *** them, to be honest.
I only came back shortly one day to give back my key and uniform, and to say bye to people. I was put on as cc on every email the union employee that worked my case sent to them and he sent every email the union lawyer sent him to me.
Well, a lot of things happened through them that I won’t write out in detail, but here are the bullet points:
I hadn’t actually been given a proper letter of termination. The one I was given was legally binding, it wasn’t actually correctly made.
My assignments had slowly changed, but my contract hadn’t and was now wrong.
This meant that instead of one month’s severance, I was entitled to three. And as this was agreed on after the one month was started, my severance was to start after – so four months of severance pay.
Since they didn’t actually have a reason to fire me, it was “unreasonable dismissal” (legal term translated) we could either get a settlement or take them to court
Since my union is one of the biggest here and quite strong, and the CEO realized that he knew nothing about it, he hired an attorney (very expensive and the company wasn’t doing very well)
The settlement was negotiated between my union and the attorney, and I was then giving the choice of either accepting or taking them to court.
Through a conversation with the union advisor working my case, I decided to accept.
The company’s attorney was being very slow to sign it so it would be closed, I suspect the CEO told him to due to having to pay it the next payday after it was signed by everyone (me, the union employee working my case, the union’s lawyer, the CEO, and the company’s attorney) and as I mentioned, the company wasn’t doing great. They had actually lost a customer the day before I was fired.
In the end, I got paid to be at home for four months and got a pretty decent size settlement for the unreasonable dismissal and the contract not being updated.
The CEO also had to state that my position in the company had been dismantled and the assignments had been spread between several employees. This was all mainly because my work had changed so much, I had basically become an assistant manager.
Moral of the story: Be in a union, have them check your contract, and make sure your contract isn’t outdated compared to what you do.” FullmoonCrystal
5. Screw Over Your Group Members? Enjoy Your Final Semester
“This story is for anyone who has ever been f*cked over in a group project.
I’ve been teaching for many years, but it’s important to understand that in my first year of teaching, I got put on blast by an elite group of entitles people and their entitled kids.
Not a week went by without someone either demanding my job, trying to undermine me or just calling me a piece of ***. I nearly quit halfway through the first semester, the verbal and emotional abuse was so bad.
This was at a school in a tough area, so I was accused of racism constantly for asking kids to stop talking, was ripped into for giving failing grades for missing work, and even enforcing the rules in the student/parent handbook got me in hot water (my principal reprimanded me for being a negative influence on the school and was I told that I needed to let more rules slide because he was tired of hearing from parents).
I would have parents just show up unannounced to sit in on my lessons and then tell me I was a ***y educator, a bad human being, etc. I have plenty of horror stories from that school alone, but the point I want to make is that this experience defined the kind of teacher I became going forward to my next school.
I needed to be that person who was untouchable because I needed to focus on the one job that mattered; teaching kids.
My next school was in a fairly affluent area. It wasn’t uncommon for me to find out that my student’s parents made millions, which brought its own unique set of problems. However, my new principal was super supportive of me as long as I followed the school’s handbook to the letter because, by doing so, I was in line with the school’s philosophy and protected by law (we seriously had parents filing frivolous lawsuits all the d*mn time).
This school had long ago learned that caving to parent demands spilled ***** in the water and brought the rest of the sharks in droves.
My first year at this new school was successful for many reasons, but primarily because the school culture was easily adapted to. By planning ahead, I was able to head off 99% of all negative parents at the pass. The few times a parent tried to rip into me at conferences, I ripped back so hard that I developed a reputation amongst the kids and parents as someone you couldn’t *** with. Everything I did was in line with the rules, and any attempt to take me down got stonewalled by my principal who would have to say “Mr.
FighterJet is following school policy, so I’m afraid the ultimate decision is his.”
No joke, I had some parents in tears because their kid could no longer get an A in my class. I wasn’t the teacher who wanted to destroy kids, I just wanted them to be accountable, and sometimes that meant letting them fail.
Needless to say, this job became a lot of fun, because instead of waiting to be ambushed by parents, I could work on making my class fun for my students while still teaching them something. I made ironclad rules for the classroom that brooked little argument and would adapt the following year to make it harder for students or parents to ruin my day.
I have many stories like this, but this is one of my favorites.
The Backstory
The year this happened, I taught a high school class with grades 9-12 (that’s 14 to 18-year-olds for you overseas guests). My class wasn’t necessary to graduate but did count as a core requirement. One of my beginning of the year rules was “I never want to hear ‘when will we ever need this?’ because you didn’t have to sign up for this class.”
How I structure my class is that I try to make students accountable for their own actions.
My class was built so that it had something to offer everybody. If you tried your best, you were guaranteed a C. If you worked really hard, you could get a B or an A.
I would bust my a** to help a student with any reasonable request. The best example of this was a student who was working hard on an assignment and said, “I think I understand it now, but can’t turn it in on time” to which I answered, “Then turn it in tomorrow for full credit. This is how hard work pays off.” Other than a few hard deadlines in my class, I would do whatever it took to see you learn the material.
*** around in my class? I have already found ways to run circles around the pathetic excuses you throw at your parents for your p*ss poor performance. It sounds callous, but I was the teacher who would stay for ninety minutes after school to help you catch up, to help fix your project for another class, or even to listen to you cry about your parent’s divorce.
If I caught you goofing in class instead of doing your work (my rule was that at least 70 percent of class time was intended for homework, quizzes, etc) I would warn you a couple of times, email your parents, and then wait and see if they even gave a ***.
If they didn’t, I would let you keep digging that hole until you were hip-deep in water and begging for a ladder.
And then I would toss you a rope instead. You could still climb it if you tried hard enough, but a lot of kids would just cry until that hole caved in and buried them.
I also utilized my school’s online grading/assignment system for nearly all of my assignments, which meant I could document when a student looked at the assignment, how long it took them, etc.
All of this allowed me to see what my students were doing, when they did it, and also if they were plagiarizing. This was one of the tools that helped me make important decisions about leniency, and also allowed me to say things at conferences such as “of course the test was hard, your child didn’t attempt the nine homework assignments until eleven pm the night before the test.” Being able to prove that a student wasn’t trying made it impossible for blame to be laid unfairly at my feet.
It also meant the worst kids avoided my class. Bonus.
However, this year, something magical happened. Every other year, I would get a wave of kids who just wanted to screw around and blame everyone else for doing poorly.
At the end of the year, students would *** talk me, my class sizes would drop the following year, then I would receive high praise from those kids, so everyone would sign up, so on and so on. But this year, not only did I get a giant wave of knuckleheads, but they came with parents who loved to Make Trouble.
I had already heard tales of some of these parents. Other teachers were just dying to hear stories about our interactions because these parents were very much entitled. They would name drop lawyers when they didn’t get their way, try to badger teachers into giving their kids extra credit, and would largely deny any wrongdoing on their kid’s part.
These were the parents who would get called in because their student was busted cheating, then accuse the teacher of making the class too hard, therefore validating their student’s need to cheat.
So about these knuckleheads. It was a group of roughly seven senior boys who all shifted their schedules to be in the same period with each other. The other teachers could not believe that I had all of them at the same time, but I just shrugged it off. Every week, the staff lounge was dying to know how I dealt with their shenanigans, but for the most part, I had shut down most of their *** from day one.
I actually got along very well with them, despite their constant goofing, because they had mastered the ability to appear busy and didn’t distract my other kids.
Then came the first group project.
My class size was just right for seven groups of four to form. The idiot collective formed two groups of 4 (by pulling in a kid who had been absent on the first day of the project). These two groups crashed and burned on this project super hard for several reasons, but the biggest was that a) they f*cked around during class time and b) put off a two-week assignment until the weekend before and then dumped all the work on everybody else, which resulted in everybody doing minimal effort.
I handed out the *** grades and was immediately pulled into parent conferences with several of them (one at a time, obviously).
Every meeting was the same. “My kid did all the work, so he doesn’t deserve a bad grade” or “My kid didn’t understand the assignment” to which I handed over my hyper-specific rubric (which is a checklist for how I grade things–I never wanted to be accused of grading based on not liking a kid). These largely went like this:
EP: My kid did all the work and I don’t think it’s fair it should hurt his grade.
Me: Here is the work your student turned in. *hands it over* Here is my rubric which I printed and emailed to your student the day the project started *hands it over* As you can see, I have itemized the grading for ease of use.
I would be happy to go over the grade your student earned.
EP: *Reads through all the evidence, looks at kid* Where are the missing parts?
Student: Uh, my group members were responsible for that.
Me: I can’t grade what I never received, so I can’t reasonably just raise your kid’s grade. Sorry.
Now, good news for all my students. I make assignments worth more throughout the semester with the idea that kids who screw up early on can make it up later by working hard. I seed Extra Credit throughout the semester and all of these parents are disgruntled but happy to hear that their entitled embryo can still get an A in my class.
Now, the end result of these meetings was that it clearly wasn’t my fault (remember, I had all this data to prove that I made every effort to contact everybody, etc) so it must be the other kids’ fault.
So these parents all decide that their perfect angel is no longer allowed to work with their previous group mates.
Like cancer, this failure of friends distributes through the rest of the class. Like the genius that I am, I make my students write a group contract for every project that details who does what and when it is due. Why is this important? Because the contract provides me the documentation necessary to allow me to dismiss a bad group member and give them a zero without their parent sh*tting all over my day.
So here is where the problem begins manifesting. These seniors begin bouncing from group to group like cancerous ping pong balls, wreaking havoc. I let students choose their groups, so these seniors are desperately integrating with anybody that will have them.
Because of my class side, every group has at least one coddled child to deal with, and these children just end up rotating until all of my students have worked with one of these seniors at some point.
Now I am getting constant complaints from parents of other kids about these boys. Their kid wanted a good grade, which means they ended up doing all the work while the senior slacked. This is usually after the fact, at which time I bring up “I would love to yank that leech out of your grade pool, but you have to use the contract.” Students don’t want to say anything because they fear retribution from the seniors, but I can’t do anything because I will be accused of harassment.
The contract can provide me with the leverage I need to prove that these kids were doing no work because these seniors have been playing their parents for years. I make my class utilize google docs because the changes are time stamped. No joke, I’ve had students produce all the work the morning of a parent meeting to try and lie their way out and make me look like a piece of ***, but that timestamp is a godsend.
Luckily, my class is balanced. A ***y groupmate can make things hard, but not undoable and parents are appeased that I have an out for their kid, but disappointed that their kid doesn’t use it. Every time I announce a group project is on the way, some of these seniors sucker up to the other kids to the point that it is expected that a spot will be made for them.
I’m talking about buying kids lunch, bringing them gifts, etc. Seriously, the day before a group project starts, all of the seniors now sit at separate tables from each other so that they could pull the “I’m already here, let’s be in a group” card (which works most of the time).
The strain on class morale is difficult, but I am biding my time.
The other students are grabbing at Extra Credit opportunities constantly so that their grade can absorb the blow, and parent complaints are completely mitigated because I am still offering every chance for success, my principal has a copy of my syllabus in his computer so that he can quote student policies that the parent signed off on.
Not uncommon for him to hear “I don’t read that ***, so it doesn’t apply” but he reminds them that the clause above the signature line says “My signature denotes that I have read this document in its entirety and agree to abide by all the rules” or something similar and that this should be a lesson to the parent and the student that when you sign something, you should read the fine print.
*If you ever become a teacher, find an awesome boss like this and stick by their side*
The Setup
So I have seven slothful seniors, but I shall name the worst of these Larry, Curly and Moe. The fallout affects all of them, but these three are the ones whose parents have a ***** for Making Trouble.
Every time they bully a teacher into compliance, I imagine they sit around a smoking room with cigars and cognac, laughing at how they got their way yet again with a lowly teacher.
I know that anything I do will be heavily scrutinized once the grades start falling and I need to be able to shrug it off because I have other *** to do, and I refuse to be the smiling topic of discussion in their celebratory***********. (However, a special note about Larry – since he turned 18, his parents now travel nonstop and are impossible to reach. Larry is now just a huge d*uche, because his parents no longer care about what he does)
I closely monitor their grades in my class, but also in others.
This may sound sketchy, but I routinely do this with any of my students who struggle with the material so that I can identify if the issue is my class or all of their classes. Students have been known fake their grades using Inspect Element and I got tired of hearing “But they have A’s in their other classes.” because then I look like the piece of ***.
Anyway, after a check, I speak with the other teachers. It isn’t hard to find out that these boys are doing minimal work in other classes, and I actually discover that Larry has been finding ways to get other kids to do the work for him and then disseminating it among his friends.
Other teachers have been bullied into lowering test percentages in their class, and guess what? He and his friends are enrolled in these classes. Despite bombing these tests, HW and Project grades give them a comfortable cushion so that most of them are floating at low B’s. I can’t prove this (they are using Snapchat) but when I bring it up with their teachers, the teachers don’t feel like trying to prove it and duke it out with the parents.
Now, they are gaming other classes for minimal effort. However, their only recourse in my class is to keep rotating through groups and leeching off of their hard work to maintain Cs and Bs, and the other kids are too nervous to utilize the group contract to get them fired.
Remember how I mentioned that I steadily increase the value of my assignments to keep kids working and give them a chance to fix their grades?
Me: *Random Day in Class* Hey everybody, I was looking in the schedule and realized that your last project before finals may stress you out unnecessarily. Would anybody mind if I dropped it?
My class: *Tired of getting banged on Group Assignments* Nope, drop it, Best Teacher Ever!
Me: Okay, well just so you know, I’m going to move our next project back a couple of weeks and extend the deadline by a week.
Also, since I cancelled the last project, this means that the next project will now be worth roughly 20% of your final grade, so do your best.
Screwing this up could kill your grade.
My class: Whatever.jpg
So in one step, I have inflated this assignment and also moved it. I send out an email to parents and students letting them know about the change to the syllabus and the assignment. Get no responses other than happiness that I am removing stress from the end of the semester, etc. I actually did this primarily because another teacher (who was a huge d*uche bag) plunked down a monster project that same week and I knew it would burn out my students prior to finals, so figured a break was in order. Win-win for me, really.
Now why did I move it?
*maniacallaughter.mp4*
The Friday before the project started, I announced at the start of class “Okay, I am introducing the project now so that you can get into groups today and we can do it first thing Monday morning without delay since this project is so important” This announcement elicits a room full of *** eating grins.
Why?
It was Senior Ditch Day. Our school didn’t condone a ditch day, so the kids tried their best to keep it a secret, but I found out a month in advance.
All seven of these kids were absent from class, which meant that I had just given the entire room freedom from these dead weights. Immediately, groups are formed, and even better, I had a couple of kids transfer out of my class at semester which meant, numbers-wise, these knuckleheads will have to work on this last group project together (in two groups). I emphasized that everyone needed to get to class as soon as possible so that they could start as soon as attendance was called.
My original intention was to light a giant fire under all seven of these chumps, to get them to actually put in the effort they had neglected to do all year. Most of them had grades in the low C range (except for one in the low Bs). As a bonus to all my students, I put an extra credit portion on this project so that they could recoup their early semester losses, but also allow these seniors to do very well if they put in the effort. This wasn’t meant to be a revenge tale, but an attempt to give them one last lesson in responsibility.
Before the end of the day, I send out a parent/student notification that the project had been started and that any absent students needed to contact their classmates to establish groups before Monday morning.
This was important (as you’ll see).
I’m sure you can guess what happened next.
Immediate Fallout
The next Monday, the seniors come traipsing in seconds before the bell to discover that there are only two tables to sit at. Whatever, they take their seats.
Me: *After attendance* Okay, everybody has a copy of the rubric, so go ahead and get started.
Rest of Class: *Immediately pulls out rubric*
Seniors: *looking around frantically*
The seniors quickly realized that they have been played and the arguing starts. The first thing that happens is that Larry, Curly, and Moe decide that they now belong with whoever they happen to be sitting with and scoot their chairs over to sit with different tables. I catch this right away and tell them that the groups are already at maximum size (4 people per group).
The other four seniors are already fighting with each other because they know that none of them will actually do any work.
Larry (who thinks he’s God’s gift to everybody) tries to sweet talk me and his group into special privileges and allowing a group of 5. Now, I see some of the other kids wavering and I know that Larry is putting pressure on them to argue his case.
I designed this project for specifically four people and had a job for each one, but I extended a separate offer.
“I will let you join, but since there will be five of you, I expect double the work.” Literally, I told them they would have to do the project twice.
Larry tries to argue, but I point out the roles I have established and informed him that if four people could do it once, having five should make it easier to do it twice. Sounds like a *** move on my part, but I have now intimidated the other kids into saying **** No and even have them put it to a vote. Unsurprisingly, Larry is the only one who votes that this is a good idea, and when the other kids catch wind of my offer, they physically shoo off the other seniors trying to pull this deal as well.
You will all be delighted to hear that the rest of the period for my seniors is spent arguing over who will work with who.
They end up forming three groups and I nod my head, make sure they have the rubric, and then wish them the best of luck.
Being the smart teacher that I am, I email Curly’s parents and Moe’s mommy that they have chosen to work with each other.
Moe’s mommy shows up to argue with me all the time but has quickly learned I won’t take her ***. At a previous meeting, she even laid into Moe and told him “I’m tired of fighting all these battles with your teachers and I’m starting to think that you’re the problem,” but I suspect this is for show.
Curly’s parents email me back and say they will make sure Curly writes a group contract.
You see, Curly has sold himself as the best student ever, and clearly he will do the work and fire his classmates.
Moe’s mommy immediately requests a meeting with me.
Per school policy, I do not have to respond to an email for 48 hours. I wait until hour 47 and email a noncommittal “I would love to meet, when are you available?” and wait for a response. I then wait another 48 hours to inform her of time the following week that works for me.
Now, some of the other senior parents have emailed me angrily demanding why I let their kids choose to work with “the bad kids” again. I had to inform them that I didn’t expect all of them to be absent.
Immediately, some of my seniors get burned at home because they ditched and their parents tell me “Just try to help them pass,” which I agree to.
Some of them need this class for graduation, after all.
Moe’s mommy, on the other hand, shows up ready to wage war. She starts by demanding that I put Moe in a different group.
I decline because the project has now been going on for a week and it wouldn’t be fair.
She demands that I add him to another group. They’re all full and students have already done the lion’s share of the work.
She demands that I let him work by himself with an extension.
I gladly offer him an extension and slide a copy of the rubric over to him and he goes white.
At this point, he knows that he is never planning to do any of the work. In fact, I know that his group hasn’t even started. I have a copy of their group contract which was hastily scribbled in pencil with no due dates on it. He starts arguing with his mom that he would rather work with his friends and that he is upset that he got stuck in this situation.
Contemplating this, she accuses me of deliberately waiting until that day to screw the seniors over. After all, it was a school-sanctioned event and I’m being a jacka*s about it and she’ll go to the board with her story.
Wrong.
The joy I get from all of my prep work is shutting down ******* like this.
All seven of the seniors hung out on ditch day at her house and told her that the principal had given them the day off. Even better, they called in and pretended to be their own parents so that it was an excused absence. He is immediately busted and his mom flips her switch and jumps all over him. You see, she can keep pressing me on this issue, but I now have evidence that he pretended to be his own dad and this is a suspendable offense. I buy myself into her graces by telling her that I had no idea that Senior Ditch Day was that Friday, but I gave her kid a free extension on the homework that was due because I thought seniors deserved their own traditions, blah blah blah.
She buys it.
Also, I can prove that I emailed him (and her) and gave them plenty of notice before Monday morning that they needed to pick groups before something like this happened. Obviously, once I found out about Ditch Day I tried to give her precious treasure a heads up, but I don’t know why he didn’t take it.
She makes him open his email. My email is sitting there, unopened, and I have won this battle. She thanks me and takes him home.
Class morale is super high unless you are one of the seniors. A week before the project is due, neither group has actually started and the H.M.S. Class Average is about to hit an Iceberg.
The Project Comes Due
It comes as no surprise that my enterprising seniors have turned in easily some of the worst work ever. One group got into a text argument the weekend before it was due and made one of the kids do all the work. Moe and Curly are in this group.
The other group (with Larry) has also turned in a steaming pile. I make sure to grade these two projects first because I know the fallout is going to be big.
All the seniors dropped at least one letter grade. A couple drops or two. This is four weeks before graduation.
Larry appears to take his F minus in stride (they got something like a ten percent on it), so I know he’s plotting something.
Curly’s parents demand a meeting and so does Moe’s mommy.
Curly’s parents are super upset that they got a bad grade and demanded to know why.
What they didn’t know was that I had already met with the student who did the entire project (poorly) and his parents. I informed Curly’s parents that I had seen the text exchange between the seniors that pretty much ended up with “You ****** do it.” Curly refused to turn over his phone to his parents for confirmation. I also show them Curly’s project and hand over the rubric.
Mom and Dad are not happy. You see, Curly has been blaming everyone else for his mistakes since the dawn of time and his parents have bought in completely.
Until today. Dad pointedly asks “Which part did you do?” and this causes Curly to spout actual tears. I then pull up a spreadsheet of all of the group project scores from the year (with no student data) and have highlighted his scores (which are among the worst). The purpose of this was to use data to prove that their son, frankly, never does the work.
Curly is absolutely destroyed by this. His parents kick him out of the conference because they are tired of his excuses and ask me what they can do. I tell them I would be happy to offer one on one tutoring and that he can still pass the class if he does his homework and gets a B on the next exam.
They agree to this, we all shake hands, and they leave.
Curly’s story largely ends here. He never shows up to tutoring, and I email his parents. After three emails, his dad finally responds with “His mom and I have decided that he needs to learn to be an adult and are leaving him to his own devices. Thank you for your efforts.” Curly will spend the rest of the semester doing little to no work. Because he is grounded at home, he is now just watching youtube videos on his phone during school. The ripple effect is glorious. because now Curly is doing this in all of his classes. I speak with his teachers and they all email that he has quit doing work in class and get the same reply I did rather than the vehement responses they are used to.
When Curly fails his classes, he still graduates, but his parents have informed him that they are no longer paying for his college and it’s time to get a job.
Moe’s mommy flips her *** and demands answers. Unfortunately, Moe is in the same group as Curly and she gets the same answers from me. Strangely enough, once she’s exhausted every effort and attempt to somehow blame me for this, she admits that she knew Moe as part of bullying the lone senior and that he should be ashamed of myself.
She deliberately tried to play me but outed herself once she knew that I already knew everything. Super annoying, but I agree to help tutor him one-on-one, which makes her happy.
Long Term Fallout
Moe’s mommy is emailing me every few days now. “Is my son doing his work, did he get help with his homework, etc.” Non-stop, but she knows better than to fight with me. Larry is unusually chipper and is no longer doing his work.
I find out that Larry is supposedly going to a college where he just needs to maintain his GPA over a super low number. He claims an F in my class won’t change anything, so I make sure he doesn’t distract the others.
Moe shows up only occasionally, but strangely enough, Larry pops in “just to say hi” whenever Moe is getting help. I can’t fathom why he does this but suspects he is up to something and already has a backup plan in place.
You see, Moe’s mommy is nuts, and I make sure that there’s always another person in the room with me when I tutor him.
Anyway, Moe’s mommy is constantly checking in. I start waiting 48 hours between emails (cause I can) and she starts dropping by in-person unannounced to check on him (me).
She’s been acting cagey lately and I’m starting to suspect something.
It’s ****** Larry. Larry is a friend of Moe’s, so he’s been in her home feeding her made-up stories to convince her that I have been emotionally abusing Moe when other students aren’t around. Stuff like I was calling him a retard after school, etc. and then telling her “you can even have the school check the cameras to see that I’m there.”
This starts a whole thing where she is now demanding answers from admin.
BUT! Mr. FighterJet is smart. Admin asks me about details regarding my interactions with Moe and I end up sitting down with my Principal, Moe, and Moe’s mommy. She details that Moe is struggling, might not graduate and that she believes that I have singled her kid out for abuse and wants his grade raised.
You see, Moe is dumb and lazy, and his mom is just as bad. When Larry went to her with his story, she never bothered talking about it with her own son. He just agreed and went along with it, so I asked Moe point-blank to please describe what has been said during our sessions and then offer to leave the room so that he can tell the principal without me there.
She tells me to stay because she wants me to hear from her son what I’ve done to him.
What neither of them knew was that I was a mentor teacher. That meant I had a first-year teacher as my mentee (not a student-teacher, but a new hire that works with a veteran teacher to learn the ropes of our school) and I had her working on grades and such in my room after school (you need so many contact hours) on the days I agreed to meet Moe. She was young, so Moe thought she was another student and never questioned it, and couldn’t even remember that she was in there. My Principal already had statements from her detailing my interactions with Moe, and Moe was unable to give any actual details and suddenly forgot what had been said to him.
This lands her in hot water with admin, and she blames the whole thing on Larry and becomes visibly upset that she fell for such a stupid ruse.
This results in an email cautioning teachers from being alone in a room with either student. Suddenly, after school help evaporates for both, but hey, I always have someone in my room, so whatever.
After that meeting, Larry is now suddenly super concerned about his grade. I rationalize that he was hoping to burn me out of my job and then use the fallout to get a free passing grade. Obviously it doesn’t work, so *** Larry. I have kids who actually want to succeed. My free days are now on days I know he works, and he never shows up for tutoring anyway.
Now that other teachers are hesitant to meet with him, he is unable to cut deals to raise those grades either (seriously, teachers fell for his change of heart spiel every semester).
Moe’s mom makes a last-ditch effort and tries to convince me that the parents of the seniors have scheduled a meeting with my boss to have me fired for giving their kids a bad grade and that she would be willing to put in a good word for me if I meet with her first. I’m sitting next to the principal when I get this email (through an app on my cellphone) and he has no idea what she’s talking about.
I tell her I’d be happy to meet everybody but that I would probably eat my lunch during such a meeting and that I hoped people didn’t mind the smell of fish.
I got a “no, seriously, they are threatening to sue you” but feigned stupidity and informed her that I couldn’t be sued for eating fish during a meeting. She now realizes I give zero **** about anything and can’t be threatened. Again, there’s nothing she can do because I am simply following policy.
The last few weeks are frantic for these seniors. One by one they fall, because they’ve done little to no work for a couple of years now and they have no idea how to apply themselves. Other teachers are emboldened by how hard I shut them down and finally hold them accountable. A few of them just barely manage Ds in my class, the rest fail.
I get a few last-second squeaks of “What can I do to raise my grade?” but have now documented that none of them attempted the extra credit assignments and that was their chance. It’s hard for a parent to *** on you when you can prove you actually tried to give their student extra credit (and can then prove they never opened the assignment online).
These guys are now failing some of their other classes. A couple has breakdowns in my class and leaves crying.
Their friendships are fracturing with each other because they now all hate each other for what happened (which they will get over during the summer).
My last test came and I made it an online multiple-choice test.
It was easy enough to have the questions and answers shuffled in random order, meaning they couldn’t cheat off each other. You see, I knew for a long time that they would sit next to each other to try and cheat on the exam, and Larry had blown a ton of money on a tutor to try and carry his friends. This throws them all off, and when Moe’s mommy accuses me (again) of trying to trick her kid with a much harder test, it was easy enough to shoo her away with a simple email.
Larry passes the exam, but his grade moves up to a meager D minus.
The Results
If you’re still here, congratulations on dealing with my wall of text.
Here are the results.
Of these seven seniors, one didn’t graduate and had to transfer schools (his parents were embarrassed that they paid to fly the whole family out for graduation that he didn’t get to take part in).
Two of the seniors lost all of their scholarships and could no longer attend the schools they wanted.
Their fallback plan was to attend the same school together and become roommates, which they did with three of the other seniors (including Moe).
I do have some after stories because I still work at this school and occasionally here from the kids who graduated.
Larry’s college was not happy with his final GPA. I’m not sure what his long game was, but it sucked.
The college kicked him out before he could even start, and I found out his huge web of lies extended to his parents too. He toured Europe over the summer and tried to surprise his parents by coming home instead of going to school. Apparently they kicked him out immediately after because they were selling their house to get a condo somewhere else (remember, they travel for work all the time now so wanted to downgrade). Last I heard, he made up a story that he joined the military but got released due to a made-up illness. (I say made up because I heard this tale from three different people, and each one was given a different disease)
Curly’s parents relented and decided to pay for Curly to go to college after all.
Curly got kicked out halfway through the year (got busted more than once for underage consumption) and then kicked him to the curb after living at home for a year and refusing to get a job.
Last I heard, he works in a vape shop.
Moe went to school and used his book smarts to try and pay other kids to do his work for him (his mommy is rich). When that failed, he faked his grades to get his mom to keep footing the bill. Eventually, the school kicked him out and he moved back home. The story his mommy told a friend of hers (who I ran into at a school function) was that he decided that he would rather be an entrepreneur than go to college and that he bought a drone to film weddings with.
Last I heard, he was acting as a distributor for his weed dealer but had moved up to selling acid on the side. His mommy thinks he is working weddings.
One senior went to college with his friends and immediately realized he needed to change. He quit hanging with his friends and, last I heard, graduated with honors in a lucrative field. He emailed me once to thank me for challenging him in HS, because it prepared him for college, so that was nice
That’s it, the end. Thanks for reading, and if you ever had a teacher you loved, send them an email, we love hearing from our children.” F1ghterJet24
4. Block My Promotion? Good Luck With Yours
“This was a few years ago. I got a job in a cinema, I was 4 or 5 years older than most of my co-workers whom it was most of their first jobs.
Having had a couple of jobs previous and a few years of maturity under my belt, I quickly became a very valued employee, so much so, I was given a promotion to Supervisor within 6 months.
The general manager loved me. I was a Swiss army knife. I would take care of projection duties when the projection manager was at our other sites. I dealt with the busy periods very calmly and was able to diffuse potential situations into getting worse. I was very good at my job. I would be “in charge” of the building when whatever manager was there had to step out.
We had one GM and four floor managers. They all liked me because I made their jobs a lot easier.
When I was working they didn’t have to work as hard and when it wasn’t busy, they didn’t have to work at all.
Two more years go by and one of the floor managers says she’s leaving in 3 months. Without having to say it, I know I’m going to get her position. They always hire internally and I am head and shoulders above my co-workers.
This is where it gets interesting. Let’s call this manager, Blobby! So Blobby does a stock take every Thursday.
I always worked Thursday mornings in projection so for the last couple of years had a standing arrangement to drink with my pals on a Thursday night. I ****** loved my Thursday drinks. I worked most weekends so this was my Saturday night.
One Thursday, I’m doing my projection checks and the GM says that Blobby is sick, would I be able to do the stocktake. *** it, I’ll do it, a 9 am to 11:30 pm (we have to count the stock at retail after we close hence the late finish) it’s a horrible shift but the brownie points are worth it.
So next week comes along and instead of doing my projection shift on Thursday, I’m in to do a stick shift. I ask the GM what’s going on and he said Blobby requested me in. Even though the GM and I get on really well, he’s gonna side with his manager over his supervisor. I explain I go out Thursday nights and Blob says “Listen, dude, I’m actually doing you a favor.
When the manager job comes up and you know how to do the stocktake and orders it will look fantastic and you’ll 100% get the job”
I grit my teeth and go along with it.
It makes sense to learn another avenue of the job. So Thursday nights come around and Blobby sits at his desk with his feet up while I basically do his job. It’s not a difficult task and after a month it’s a piece of p*ss.
Let me paint a picture of Blobby. He’s short, fat and balding. Ear pierced, thinks he’s cool but he really isn’t. Think David Brent from the office. Keep him on your side and work is a lot easier because he can be quite petty but what he did next was far from petty.
3 months go by and we’ve one week left before our manager leaves. They start the interview process but for some reason, the owners decide to sit in and do the interviews. Really strange!
So the interview starts and I’m hit with “How do you expect to be our manager if your timekeeping is so poor?” They have a list of times I clocked in late. 5 minutes here, 7 minutes there. The thing is, timekeeping wasn’t an issue. You come in late the odd time and then if they needed you to stay back, most would. Take a penny, leave a penny scenario. But these guys go to town on me! They have surveillance footage of me taking in delivery (which isn’t part of my job) without wearing a hi-vis jacket.
“Your complete lack of concern for safety regulations is appalling.” Emails from a few irate customers over the years that complained about me, I did the right thing in all those circumstances but taken out of context look like I was in the wrong. I’ve given up fighting my corner. I know I’m not getting this promotion.
My co-worker got it. If it wasn’t me I was happy it was her. She was also very good at her job and would no doubt make a fine manager. So after giving so much for the company for over 3 years, I found my self doing things *********. Why go the extra mile when it wasn’t appreciated.
So I’m still on stock duty on a Thursday night.
While Blobby is down dealing with a customer, I’m in the office inputting the stock figures. I accidentally close the program. I open the “Blobbys folder” where the program is and see a file saying “discrepancies”. I don’t know why clicked in but I did. I see my name “mumblybum’s folder” of course I’m going to click in and see what’s going down in funky town. I’m ****** shocked! There are about 5 subfolders in my folder. “Lates”, “Dangerous Delivery”, “Potential Stealing”, “Associates” and “Hungover”!!
We’ve already talked about Lates and DANGEROUS DELIVERY! The stealing one is me leaning over a closed till but looks like I’m trying to hide something (which I wasn’t).
Utter nonsense. “Associates” is pictures of me standing with my co-workers chatting when it wasn’t busy and “hungover” was screenshots from my Facebook when I was out the night before and then at work the next day.
It was clear as day that this *** handed this information to the owners.
Finishing up that night was so ****** tough. I wanted to rip that earring out and pop his baldy head like a pimple but I played it cool and finished my shift. Monday comes around and I ask to talk to GM. I explain what I’ve found and it’s really serious because it’s an invasion of privacy. CCTV should only be used to review footage when something goes wrong, not used to stalk me! The GM says he only found out after the interviews were over. The reason he didn’t do them was that he was also leaving. He was a good man and didn’t ******* around.
He said Blobby hated me, don’t know why but he was always bringing up issues with me. He then recommended me getting a new job because more than likely Blobby was gonna be the new GM and my life there would be unbearable if he got it.
So I talk to my brother and sister who are a lot smarter than me about what roads to go down. File a complaint? What’s the point when the owners used his dossier against me. Bring him to court? Too much hassle for very little payoff.
If you’re still reading I applaud you! High five! This is where it gets fun. Blobby wants the GM position more than anything. He has a bit of competition but he’s the front runner.
I could spend the next two months looking for work or could be ambitious and try a bury this piece of ***. I chose the latter!
So I’m drinking with my girlfriend one night and we’re joking around about how to get revenge. She scared me a little with her suggestions. Some tame ones like key his car and then a straight jump to “burn his house down”. If any authorities are watching, we were only joking!
And just like that fat boy signed his own death certificate. Whilst I’m on the stock shift he makes a passing remark. “We have to start nailing this stock takedown to the last popcorn kernel. The yearly stock take is in 6 weeks and *****(owner) is doing it and she’s a ball breaker” I know all about her, she ripped me to pieces in the interview.
“Don’t worry Blobby, Mumblybum is on the case, those numbers will be perfect”
and he goes for the oscar with this line “You’re a good worker, ****** travesty you didn’t get the manager job, but when I get the hot seat you’ll be made a manager as soon as a position comes up. No interview required”
What a pr*ck!
I’m so good at the stocktake that he doesn’t even check my work. I’m making the orders and counting the stock. So over the next 6 weeks, I start to *** *** up! I put the orders in on a Wednesday for our Friday delivery. I normally eyeball it and see what movies are coming out and we always had a nice bit of stock on hand.
Not too much, not too little. That’s about to change. I start adding 25% to every order we get in. I show Blob the dockets, he signs them, happy days. Then when I’m doing the stock on the Thursday I put in that we ordered our usual amount. The system balances on the computer but what we have in the stock rooms is a lot more!
I do this for the next 4 weeks. I’m royally ***ed if he ever actually looked in the stock rooms.
They’re nearly exploding with the product! Lucky for me and unlucky for him, he’s a lazy ***!
It’s the last week before the ball breaker does the end of year stocktake. I balance everything on the computer as usual before we call it a night I tell him to check the presales tomorrow.
We’re gonna have a busy weekend so I say to him “email our suppliers and get a bit extra, it will all get used anyways and we’re looking perfect on the stock count”. Granted iv been adding on 25% for the past month or so but he goes ultra blobby and bangs out an emergency email to our suppliers asking could they double the standing order for tomorrow! Check ****** mate!
When I get home that night I type up my resignation letter. I ask the GM who has a couple of weeks left if I can leave immediately due to unforeseen circumstances. He agrees because he’s a good man and gives me his personal number and an amazing written reference, wishes me to best and thanks me for all my hard work.
Like Andy Dufrense, iv crawled through a sea of *** and came out clean on the other side!
I confide in one of the regular workers what iv done over a couple of pints.
He said the next day when the delivery came, they couldn’t fit it all in the 4 different stock rooms. Rule of thumb would be about 3 weeks’ stock on hand. We must have had about 8. Now I know you’re gonna say I’m really hurting the owners. I’m not, all of the stock will be used. Except for maybe a few bags of popcorn that will expire everything else will get sold for an exorbitant profit.
Word on the ********* was that the yearly stock take went into the wee hours off the morning.
3 am to be precise. Blobby was boxed in. The stock was a cluster ***. Tens of thousands of euro off. He could take the blame himself and look incompetent or say I did it, to which he looks worse considering he was behind the dossier to slander me.
I don’t know what he did. All I know is he didn’t get the GM position and within 6 months was working selling furniture! I never spoke to him about it but one would hope he knows it was me who ***ed him.
*** you blobby you rotund walking bean bag!
Thanks for reading!” MumblyBum

“It’s sad how often this happens.
I was working at a retail store, and I got offered a manager position, which I didn’t want as it was a $2 raise with 4x the responsibilities.
My co-worker got it, who didn’t think he deserved it, he thought I deserved it. So what do they do when they get the promotion(which just so happens to be my direct supervisor)? To make themselves look better they start sabotaging my work and going over everything I go over and screwing with it to make it look like I did a poor job. They start ‘telling me’ to do things which are actually their job to do, so they can do more and look better and claim that they ‘did it all’. They even tried to frame me for stealing stuff from the store(including shorting my cash register at the end of the night to make it look like I’m pocketing the money).
I never got revenge but people suck. Companies need to account for human error and personal greed. His supervisor was in on it, who was who I’d go to complain about, so I really had no one to go to. I could have gone to THEIR supervisor, but then it’d look like I was going over both of their heads.
Eventually, they started getting stressed out once I stopped helping out as much as I did(I did whatever I could to help anyone because ‘we’re a team’), because their boss had come to expect 120% from this guy, who did bust his ***, but was also claiming credit for my work to make him look better, so he could never live up to the expectations they had of him.” Snackrific
3. Professor Graded Me Incorrectly, Then I Got Her Fired From The University
“I have been debating on posting this story for the past couple of years now, and this happened in the middle of my college career.
I often find myself thinking about this insane woman and the ridiculous things that happened during this class and the following semester, which is why I want to get this story off my chest and hopefully amuse some other people. This post will probably be pretty long because I need to describe all the insane policies/things she did while “teaching” this class, as well as the aftermath and how I got revenge. So, buckle in.
First off, I was a college student in my junior year when this incident happened. My college is a pretty good engineering school, and I am a STEM major.
I was required to take a Professional and Technical Communications class as a part of my degree.
Basically a class on how to write technical documents and give professional presentations. I consider myself a somewhat awkward person and do not like speaking to large groups, so I knew this class would not be enjoyable. I also have always tried to achieve high grades and work hard in my whole educational career, so while I knew I would not enjoy this class, I also knew it would be like every other class and I would try my best.
I am used to difficult engineering courses involving math, algorithms, equations, etc., so while I knew this class would be different than what I was used to, I did not expect it to be overly time-consuming/difficult. Let me just say now, this class took more of my time than all of my other classes combined together that semester.
To start, this professor was one of those professors that believed the traditional way of lecturing/taking notes was not effective. Instead, 1 time a week, she would split the class into groups of 3-4 students, give each student a section of a chapter to read, and we would give a short presentation on the material to the class.
Now I understand this was basically a glorified speech/writing class, so I understood where she was coming from and did not complain. However, for every single presentation like this (remember 1 per week) there would be a total of 3 grades for it. She would grade our presentation, a random student not in the group would grade our presentation, and we ourselves would grade our own presentation.
This meant that missing even 1 presentation resulted in 3 0’s, so I knew I had to try my best to never miss a class. Obviously, we would always give ourselves a 100 when we self-graded, and the random student chosen would always give good grades, but she would always find something wrong and give 80’s. These 3 grades per presentation will become extremely important later.
Next, she also had frequent writing assignments. I have always done well in English/writing classes. However, she would always grade extremely harshly on these writing assignments, and I would always get high C’s or low Bs on them. Whatever.
For the midterm, she had us break into groups of 3 and we had a “game show” type of test.
She would ask random, extremely specific questions from the chapters we gave presentations on, and we had to write the answers on the board.
If our answer was “unintelligible” (basically if she didn’t like your handwriting), misspelled, or grammatically wrong in any way, she wouldn’t accept the answer. It was completely up to her discretion. If you got the answer right, you got a tally and the group with the most points got an A on the midterm, the next group got an A-, the next highest group got a B+ and so on. This is hands down the strangest and worst way I have ever seen an exam being given during my college career. But whatever, my group got third so we got a B+.
She also had other random miscellaneous assignments throughout the semester she considered being in different categories. So we had the chapter presentations, writing assignments, midterm, etc., as different categories. For final grades, as stated in the syllabus, she would calculate your grade for each category, and each category would have different weights. I don’t remember how it went exactly but presentations could be 20%, writing could be 15%, etc.
Now, something I haven’t mentioned yet was the category of bonus points. To counteract her harsh grading/ability to lose large amounts of points from missing a presentation, she would give bonus points throughout the semester.
So, I knew I needed to get as many bonus points as possible to guarantee an A in this class.
There were various ways to get bonus points, but I remember the strangest was a “basketball” completion we had in class that involved throwing paper balls into a trash can across the room, and a paper plane making competition DURING CLASS (tuition well spent). During the “basketball” competition, I was the only one to make the paper into the basket, and honestly, it was super lucky but worth a ton of bonus points. When I successfully made the shot I was shocked and could tell she didn’t expect anyone to make it, but she acknowledged that I had earned the large sum of points. At the end of the semester, she claimed she would apply the bonus points to whichever grading category we were the lowest in, so it would help our grade the most.
Another thing I have not mentioned is that my whole life I have suffered from general Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It was much worse when I was younger, and certain foods trigger it more than others. I mostly have it under control now, but there are still days when I will get diarrhea and stomach pain and I cannot leave a bathroom for an hour.
Well, one of these days happened during, you guessed it, one of the in-class presentations. I was unable to go to class that day, which resulted in 3 0’s. Before class had even started, I emailed her explaining that I would not be able to make it to class, and I asked if I could make an appointment with her to discuss it.
I knew I would get those 3 0’s so I wanted to show her I wasn’t just skipping class and I wanted to be as proactive as possible. I had a meeting with her where I explained I have IBS. At the time, it was my mistake of not having it officially registered with my University that I have IBS, but I told her I could easily get her a doctor’s note if she would like one (at the time I was still seeing my pediatric Gastrointestinal doctor and had been seeing him since I was a baby, so he’s had to write me many notes for school in the past). She acted like it was all fine and she said she would exempt me from those 3 0’s.
Even if she wasn’t going to remove the 0’s, I knew I had about 400 bonus points to make up for it.
However, her next ridiculous stunt was about to be performed.
About 3/4 of the way through the semester, at the beginning of class one day she informs us that 1 of the students in my class had gone to the Dean (her boss) and stated that the bonus points system was unfair. She informed us that all of the bonus points we had accumulated would be unusable because that student had “broken the chain of command” and not come to her with the issue. This was a MAJOR red flag for me. This was a small class (about 15 students) and throughout the semester we had been complaining to ourselves about her.
Complaining about all of the work we were being given, how she grades harshly, and the dumb midterm. As I stated earlier, this class was more time consuming than all my other classes combined. I believe she had developed a grudge against our class and wanted to take away our bonus points as a punishment. I later found out that no student had gone to the Dean about the bonus points, so I can only conclude that I was correct in assuming she just hated our class. She stated that even though we wouldn’t get any bonus points, she would drop the lowest grade from a grading category, such that it would help our grade the most.
Now it was at the end of the semester, and we would be getting our final grades. There was no final exam for this class (there was a final project that was equally as ridiculous, but I’ve already said enough about this class’ structure), but during exam week, I receive an email from her. It basically said that she was unable to exempt me from those 3 earlier 0’s because it was unfair to the other students in the class. She was careful to word her email so that she did not admit she had ever exempted me from those 0’s. When I checked my grades, she had removed the exempt status from them and they were now showing as 0’s again.
By this point, I was just done with this whole class. I didn’t want to have to deal with her ever again, so I just accepted it and decided to move on. As I said, this was during finals week and I was busy studying for many other difficult classes. When she published our final grades, she had given me a B-, which I thought was off. I went to check my grades to calculate it myself to verify, but she had removed all of the individual grades from the grade book and just replaced it with the final grade.
This was a massive mistake on my part because now I had no way to verify it.
However, like I said I just wanted to be done with all of this so I grudgingly took the B- and moved on. I had a feeling that my grade seemed a little low, and I knew that with those bonus points she had taken away, I could’ve at least had a B+ or possibly an A-.
The next semester rolls around and I had a class with another student from that previous class. As we were talking, we started discussing how dumb that class was and he mentioned he also got a B- in the class, which he thought was low. He also mentioned how over the break, he tried to leave a review for her on one of those college professor review websites.
However, he noticed his reviews would always be strangely removed from the website and there would be many more high ranking reviews following it. He suspected she was reporting bad reviews of herself to the website to somehow get them removed (there’s a feature for this under every review), and then making positive fake reviews for herself. Well, I decided to make an accurate review of my experience of the class, which was obviously negative.
I was stunned to see that minutes later, it was removed for violating terms of service! I then began trying to make more negative reviews and I focused SOLELY on the way the class was, instead of reviewing her as a person.
Each and every one of my reviews got taken down. In its place was a new review exclaiming how great the professor was and how some students were out to get her. This seemed to be directed at me trying to make a negative review, but again I was just describing my negative experiences with the class.
I then began to get angry and tried a loophole in the system. I gave her a negative review only containing 1 sentence that I was sure would not violate any rules of the website, and I reported the negative review myself and gave a ******* reason for reporting it. I found that a review could only be flagged for review 1 time, and once it was verified, nothing could be done to remove it.
Using this method, I got a few negative reviews to stick and diminished her perfect rating on the website. I could tell this made her mad, as a flood of positive reviews came in.
However, these new reviews became oddly specific. It seemed that many of the reviews were directly referencing people in my class. Since this website is all anonymous, I believe she realized it was someone from our class because, in my original reviews, I mentioned she had taken away our bonus points. Well, 1 of the new specific reviews was definitely mentioning me! The way she wrote it, she was writing the review as if it was me writing it. She wrote things like “I decided to skip class one day and got any 0’s.
So I went to the professor and told her I had IBS. It did not work and I got a low B instead of an A.” I was furious when I saw this because now I knew it HAD to be her doing this. I had not told anyone else that I had a meeting with her to discuss that incident, let alone that I had IBS.
At this point, I decided this was getting too serious and I decided to stop messing with her on this website. I now believed this lady was insane and I did not want to press her further. So, I was satisfied with a couple of negative reviews I got to stick and I thought that was it.
I’m so glad that wasn’t the end because this is the beginning of my revenge, even if I didn’t know it at the time.
The next day, I get an email from the Dean of Students saying that I was required to meet with them to discuss it. I was extremely surprised by this, and I already suspected it was related to this lady and the review website. Before the meeting, I had to call the office to acknowledge I had received the email and set up a meeting time. I asked the receptionist over the phone if she could give me any more information on why I was meeting the Dean (I played dumb on the phone) and she said they had received an email FROM the review website saying that I specifically had been harassing this lady online.
At this point, I was still in contact with some of the other students from the class, and a few of them had also been summoned to the Dean, even though I was the only one involved with the review website. This told me she didn’t know exactly who was doing it.
So, now that I was going to the Dean of Students about this, I knew I now had the perfect chance for revenge.
I wanted to be prepared as possible for this meeting, so I began gathering all of my evidence.
First, I wrote down a bullet point list of the crazy ways she “taught” the class including the bonus point fiasco, midterm test, harsh grading, how my individual grades were replaced with the final grade so I could not verify, and anything else I could think of.
Next, I contacted some people that I had taken the class with and asked if I could use them as a witness. They all gladly agreed and said they could confirm the things that happened during the class, especially her taking away the bonus points. Some of these students were the ones who were already summoned to the Dean, and some were not.
Then, I got the screenshots of her referencing my IBS on the review website, and I decided to contact the website myself. I sent an email describing how I was being summoned to my University’s Dean and they claimed they got a complaint from the website. They replied back saying that their website was completely anonymous, and they would never contact a University like this, proving that it must have been the professor pretending to be the website when she reported me.
Coincidentally, I had actually had further tests at the time for my IBS, and I had a doctor’s appointment anyway. So, I got a new doctor’s note proving I have IBS to corroborate my 3 0’s being exempt then not exempt. Additionally, I also brought the test results further proving my IBS.
With this mountain of evidence, I felt extremely prepared. When I went, I basically recounted the entire story as I described it above, and I showed all of my evidence. Not only did the Dean believe me, but they had already concluded that the email received from the review website was fake and did not actually come from them.
The Dean was extremely helpful, and when I described that I believed I could have been graded unfairly because my grades were hidden and how I knew my grade would’ve been better with the bonus points, she mentioned meeting with another Dean, who was the professors boss.
I said I wanted to escalate this situation and I would love to have a meeting with him, and she helped me set up an appointment with the other Dean. The meeting with the Dean of Students ended with her basically saying they would be investigating this lady.
I do not know the exact details of the meetings with the other students, but I know they had similar stories as far as their classroom experiences.
Next, I had a meeting with the other Dean. When I met him, I basically described the whole story again. He had already talked to the previous Dean, so he knew most of the story already. He was able to request my individual grades.
I was able to go through them, and I found that she had, in fact, graded me incorrectly. Even without the bonus points, I was able to see that my grade should have been a B+ even with those 3 0’s. She had given me a B-. If you factor in the bonus points, my grade was an A flat. This Dean was extremely apologetic and my grade was changed from a B- to an A. He also told me (off the record) that no student had come to him during that semester to complain about the bonus points, so she had taken them away just because she didn’t like our class.
Now, I don’t know for sure, but I believe that she had graded everyone in my class incorrectly and given us all grades that were lower than what they should’ve been.
My meeting with this Dean ended with him saying he would be investigating her as well. This all happened at the end of the semester (I originally took the class in fall, and I spoke with the Dean/got my grade changed at the end of the following spring), but I had 1 final meeting with the Dean of Students the following fall (1 full year from when I originally took the class). From that meeting, I learned that she no longer worked at the University, but she couldn’t confirm whether she was fired for this incident or not. I have a strong feeling she was fired as a result of this and I have a strong feeling she has graded my entire class incorrectly.
In the end, I wouldn’t have gotten my revenge if she didn’t stupidly report me to the Dean using a fake email, so I’m actually glad about that. I am extremely glad I took the time to compile all my evidence against her. I wouldn’t have gotten my revenge if I just went with my story. If you have read this for this long, thank you. I hope all this makes sense, and I’m just glad I never have to see or deal with this lady again.” jkat19
2. I Nearly Got Him Fired
“I’m not one for revenge personally but this is something that happened to me in College (UK college) and it’s something me and friends love to reminisce over from time to time.
A little background: I originally went to college intending doing Maths and Physics but due to multiple factors didn’t get the grades, so I jumped into IT instead as the course didn’t need grades as high and “there was a need for IT techs in the market.” The class I ended up in had about 5 of us that honestly didn’t need to be there. We were your ultra comp’ nerds and pretty much could answer every question from day one. Some tutors saw this and used us to help the other students who came to the class not knowing jack about computers. Then there was Malicious Tutor.
Our class was rather rowdy, a lot of male teens that most of them were there ’cause, well they didn’t know what they wanted to do in life and this gave them some grades for University or something.
Most of them continued on to other college courses then went to Uni after. So onto the actual story.
My small group of friends and I often sat at the front of the class, often chatted while we worked and generally like to have a joke or two. But we did our work. Things started out with Malicious Tutor telling us in the middle of class that we needed to stop talking and get on with our work.
Okay, we were mostly joking then so sure. Maybe we were distracting him. But, as time went on, he would start to snap at us for talking about the work, moving to help each other with stuff we had already done or just knew more about etc.
The time that took the biscuit was about halfway through the first year when on a day we were doing our assignments which were due the next day (Something most of our tutors let us do in class if we had all other works done) and the two of the group that knew the least needed some help finishing off their stuff. Most of us were working on other classes work, the main lecture had been done and the other people in the class were not passing that assignment first time as non of them were working on it even though the Tutor had said, “use this time to get it in, I don’t want late assignments.” They were instead laughing, joking, generally ****** around and playing games at the other side of the room where he couldn’t see their computer screens.
Malicious Tutor turns to us and rather angrily, and only too our small group demands that we shut up, sit at our own desks and stop distracting him.
We had “Been distracting him” every lesson and were “Problem students.” He wouldn’t listen to any of us about us helping each other or anything else, wouldn’t give the two that needed the help, the help, and being nerdy anxious teens none of us wanted to risk a fail or anything for all the work if we just walked out. So we complied. After the class, we got to talking. One of the people in our group who we referred to as Griff in college had done another course before this one, and had many more tales of Malicious Tutor.
From “Losing assignments” to straight-up refusing to help students with one occasion breaking some code in a software assignment and then just shrugging and saying, “Dunno sorry.” and leaving the student to fix it. It was here I decided to hatch a plan. A plan that snowballed far quicker than I expected.
That night I jumped on skype, the VoIP of the time, hit up Griff and started writing down everything that had been happening. The seemingly innocuous harassment, the lack of assistance, the losing of assignments over the years, the specific targeting and ignorance of other people doing exactly what he was complaining about.
Everything we could get our hands-on. I then spent the next few days going around with a handcrafted letter to everyone that I knew had been affected which although everyone thought it might get him “spoken too” but nothing more, still signed it to say that they agree with what was written and that they can corroborate it.
I then sent the letter straight up the ladder, not to his supervisor, or manager or boss but his bosses boss. This bit wasn’t intentional, but it made it snowball and although I had planned out a whole bunch of stuff to give evidence of his actions, I didn’t need any of it. Within a few hours of depositing the letter, I was pulled from my class by the head of the department who was assuring me that I wasn’t in trouble and all the usual stuff. I was taken straight to her bosses boss who said something along the lines of.
“OP, because of how you’ve approached this complaint, we have got to take it very seriously.
Did all the people who signed this read it?”
“Yes, tutors, managers bosses boss. They did, and I believe other people have made complaints in the past too.”
“Ok OP, if you want we can omit any names and this can be dealt with as an anonymous complaint, but that is up to you.”
“I am fine with my name being used but I can’t say for anyone else who signed the letter.”
“Thank you, OP, if we need anything else from you I’ll be in touch.”
I can’t say for certain but I’m sure he then called in every other person on the letter and all of them asked to stay anonymous.
By the next week, the Tutor had disappeared and no one knew why or where he’d gone.
Even his colleagues didn’t know exactly what had happened, only that he’d left. We didn’t see him again that year. The Head of the department was also changed, I’m assuming because she hadn’t dealt with the complaints properly but she just got a demotion. She was a good tutor.
The next year, I was stood near the room my next lecture was and Malicious Tutor walks down the corridor, making a point to stop in front of me, shake my hand, ask how my studies are going and tell me if I ever need anything I can come straight to him. Kinda creepy and he never did it to any other students.
I was never put in any of his classes again even though he did lectures on my subjects.
I found out before I finished my last year he’d been put on leave, then made to attend a training program and hit with the good ol’ “Last chances” warning probably with attend this program or you’re fired. Moral of the story? The pen is mightier than the MTs bork?” Theraria
1. Fire Me? I Have Nothing Left To Lose. I’m Spilling Your Dirty Secrets
“I used to work for a plasma collection center back from 2008 to 2010.
Even though I was a certified phlebotomist I was placed up in reception and I slowly worked my way up to senior receptionist and trainer. I was also training for quality control and was known for keeping detailed notes of issues that were in need of fixing/training which I would forward on to management.
Some of the things I’d keep track of were violations of FDA and GHA (German Health Authority since we were run my a German/Swiss company) as well as OSHA issues. Because I wasn’t seeing anything being done, I eventually stopped reporting the issues to avoid being labeled a troublemaker and just kept time/date info and if I could I got pictures with date stamps just to cover my own a** in case something bad went down.
Fast forward to June of 2010 and I was talking with one of my coworkers about the proposed cuts to benefits and the high turnover rate at our center. They were complaining to me about being afraid to call in sick because others had been fired for it, and I mentioned that they were putting donors in danger by us being sick since we weren’t allowed to wear face masks unless we were in the back in the donor area and even then it was the clear face shields to prevent getting hit if someone “leaked” on us.
Without thinking about it, I talked about how unions protected against this sort of thing in other medical fields, and how that might be something we should consider to help protect us. The coworker got weirdly quiet, but I figured it was because I was talking about a subject most people don’t like talking about.
Nothing really happened until about August when another coworker grabbed my ponytail while I was working with a donor and yanked down on it, jerking my head back. I’d informed everyone I worked with to never touch my hair because it was a trauma trigger for me from being abused, and so this coworker knew I would wind up in panic mode from this.
She’d seen it happen before when a donor touched my hair, so this was deliberate. I remember telling her to not do that again, or I would make her get away. She, of course, walked up and yanked my hair even harder, and I hit her.
The supervisors went into damage control mode as I fled the area, still in a panic response, and one of them cornered me and demanded I write down what happened because I had “assaulted” someone on the property.
I wrote my side as well as told them to check security footage since the camera was aimed right at the booth I was working at and had a clear view of the events.
Turned out everyone else told an entirely different (and creepily similar) story than what I told, and the footage couldn’t be found even though less than half an hour had passed. I was fired for assault less than an hour later and escorted off the premises after being given 5 minutes to clear out my locker and get my belongings.
So on to the revenge, which was two-pronged.
My partner was there on that day and saw what happened, and tried to offer to write up what he saw, but was denied. So the next time he went in, he wound up being screened by the coworker who yanked my hair (who didn’t even get a write up for assaulting me) and asked her loudly enough that the whole reception area could hear, “So how’s those 50 shekkels of silver, Judas? Was it worth it?” which left her in tears and another person had to finish screening him.
He wound up being banned for 6 months for his attitude, but he claims it was more than worth it.
While this was going on, I had been reaching out to the various organizations and departments that oversaw plasma donation and collection, the FDA, OSHA, CDC, GHA, and the like. I informed them of the fact that we always cleaned prior to an inspection but we didn’t keep things that clean day today, and suggested a surprise inspection should be in order. I also handed over copies of everything I’d collected and tried to report, but always got shut down.
I learned a few months later that all of the management and several of the other techs and supervisors were all “suddenly” reassigned and the FDA, GHA, and OSHA had all slammed fines on the center for violations dating back almost the whole time I worked there.” The_MichaeB
I couldn’t even hurt a flea, so reading most of these revenge stories was insanely mindblowing.
But in the end, a lot (maybe even all) of these people deserved the revenge they were served. Harsh but true! Got any stories to share? Tell us everything!
