We all have our own bucket lists. As for this veteran, the sky is literally the limit when it comes to making them come true.
Meet Millie
Vivian “Millie” Bailey is a 102-year-old ex-WWII veteran from Maryland.
She’s Having An Interview
She’s being interviewed for a TV series called Honor Flight Heroes when they asked her what it is that she has always wanted to do but never had the chance to, and her answer was to sky-dive.
She Was Inspired By Former President Bush
Millie said, “You are not going to believe it, but the thing I’d like to do is a parachute jump like President Bush did.”
The TV Show Made Her Wish Come True
Upon knowing that it was her life-long dream, the TV show decided to pay for her sky-diving expenses and covered the event as part of their series.
Precautionary Measures Were Strictly Observed
Her skydive instructor, Cornelius, suggested jumping with her and he was with her all throughout the experience until they safely landed, with Millie’s family and county officials and paramedics watching the whole event.
She Was Mind-Blown By The Experience
“It was wonderful, a real thrill!” Millie exclaimed. “I was scared for one minute, it felt like I was tumbling, and then I thought somebody is holding onto me.”
Her Public-Servant Heart
Up until now, Millie still serves the country by sending care packages for soldiers who are deployed overseas, and many are grateful for her life.
Honoring Her Life’s Work
In exchange for all that she’s done for the country, a park located at the Columbia lakefront, named the Vivian C. Millie Bailey Park, is dedicated to her.
