One of the most frightening calamities must be an earthquake as it comes so suddenly, without any warning, and because of shock, no matter how many times we were taught to “duck, cover, and hold” during these moments, we’ll never know what we MUST really do on different scenarios during an earthquake.

When a 6.8 earthquake hit Sichuan, China in 2022, lots of people were faced with different challenges in pursuit of saving themselves, but this woman who has an infant on a ventilator didn’t think much of herself and decided to use her body to shield her baby from falling debris.

The Kids’ Safety Comes First

Lots of parents rushed to their children’s side and placed them in safety. A couple brought their baby onto the bed and circled around him to keep him safe. In a different household, a mother and grandmother picked up their baby and rushed outside once they felt the ground moving.

While most parents were rattled to save their kids from harm, this young boy took the initiative to alarm his mother about the earthquake and quickly led her outside their home.

Another responsible young boy swept the toys that were blocking his and his little sister’s way and heroically led the little girl outside the room with him.

In another household, a loyal nanny didn’t forget about the baby she was babysitting even during a calamity. She boldly carried the baby on her shoulders as they made their way down the stairs.

A different woman in another household made sure that her mom wouldn’t be left behind by carrying her in her arms before rushing outside their house.

Aside from familial encounters, there were also stories in school captured by cameras during the earthquake. One was about this school wherein the teachers were having their lunches while the kids were napping.

Good Examples

When they felt the earthquake, every single one of them jumped up from the table and woke the students up. They all calmly rushed down the stairs while covering their heads with their hands. This shows how important it is to show calmness during a frightening situation so the kids won’t panic too.
