Twins growing up in different families almost sounds like it’s coming from a television drama, but this one is a true-to-life story of twin sisters who just found out about each other right before their 36th birthday.

Molly Sinert was born in South Korea and was adopted by an American family from Florida.

She had no idea that she has an identical twin sister, Emily Bushnell, who was also in America, growing up in Philadelphia.

Her Daughter’s Idea

Emily’s 11-year-old daughter, Isabel, suggested that she look into her ancestry. She said, “I wanted to do the DNA test because she was adopted. I wanted to find out if I had more family on her side.”

Since Emily didn’t want to take a DNA test, she let Isabel take one instead, and little did they know that Molly, in Florida, had also taken a DNA test for health reasons.

Confusing Results

When Molly got the results, she was confused because it said that she has a close relative, a daughter, specifically, with whom she shares 49.96% DNA. She reached out to Isabel to ask her about the DNA results, and that’s when the truth unfolded.

Isabel sent Molly a message with a brief explanation of her mom’s history and her birth date, and it was confirmed that Molly was speaking to her twin sister’s daughter, so they arranged to meet on their 36th birthday.

A Beautiful Reunion

The twin sisters finally met each other after 36 years of not knowing about each other’s existence. Emily was overwhelmed by the idea of having a twin sister. She said, “a hole was immediately filled in my heart.”

Twin Moments

Emily and Molly caught up with each other’s life events, and they learned about some fate-driven things that can pass as their “twin moments” like the fact that they were both adopted by American families, and how they both wore beaded dresses with similar-style necklaces and almost identical hairdos on their respective proms.
