A family went on a boat trip off the Florida Keys and ending up saving a turtle’s life when they spotted a mysterious lump on its flipper, which turned out to be a 14lb tumor.
The Turtle Was Tangled in a Fishing Line
But was rescued by a fast-acting family who were on a boat trip off the Florida Keys.
He Was Nicknamed Chomper
By the family’s two young sons.
And Was Brought to the Hospital
In Marathon, FL, home of the Turtle Hospital, where loving staff rescue, rehabilitate, and release turtles in need of care!
Where Vets Discovered a 14lb Tumor!
Luckily, a talented doctor was able to remove it!
Chomper is a Loggerhead Turtle
Loggerheads are a type of giant sea-turtle which weighs about 300lbs on average!
Chomper is Small… for a Loggerhead
And weighs about 125lbs.
He Now Wears a Pink Cast
Which will be removed when he recovers!
And is Expected to Make a Full Recovery
Thanks to the wonderful care of the hospital staff!
