Working On His Car
PexelsAllen Clemmons from Sumter, South Carolina was working on his Mustang convertible one day when things started to get out of hand.
Unforeseen Accident
PexelsHe used a jack and blocks to hold his car up, but, as he was trying to remove the transmission, the car slid and fell right on his body.
Losing Hope
PexelsAllen tried to scream for help but his family was out running errands, and his house was not very close to any other house in the neighborhood. He said, “I was having a really hard time breathing with it on top of me, even though I was kind of on my side.”
He Prayed
PexelsHe was already getting short of breath, and all he could do at that time was pray. He said, “I asked God to help me, to give me one more holler and send an angel by my way. The last holler before I give up.”
Malachi Heard Him
YouTube, CBS PhiladelphiaFortunately, 9-year-old Malachi was playing outside when he heard Allen’s cries so he rushed toward his home to see what was happening.
He Rescued Him
PexelsMalachi saw Allen’s situation, and, luckily, he knows how to use a car jack, so he lifted the car up to free the old man.
Calling For Help
PexelsMalachi then ran back to his aunt’s house and asked for help. Soon enough, the rescue team arrived to bring Allen to the hospital.
His Injuries
YouTube, CBS PhiladelphiaThe doctors treated the old man for six broken ribs and a fractured pelvis and a shoulder injury.
His Guardian Angel
YouTube, CBS PhiladelphiaAllen is immensely grateful to Malachi for saving his life. He said, “I don’t think I would have survived another 30 minutes. It was getting really hard to breathe. He is truly my guardian angel.”
