A woman named Lilly was just enjoying taking a dip in her pool in Adelaide Hills in South Australia when she suddenly had an unexpected interaction with a koala.

She noticed the koala scooping up water to drink so she slowly waded her way through the water then cupped her hands together so the koala could drink right out of her hands.

Not An Unusual Event

Koalas have usually been reported to visit backyard pools in Australia as a way to escape the heat so experts from Wildcare Australia recommend people keep flotation devices in the pool to prevent the animals from drowning.

After that day, the koala would visit Lilly every now and again to sit in the tree in her pool area unfazed by anything around it. Eventually, he became keen to come and made friends.
