You may never know the effects that you have on others.
Meet Teacher Jaime
Jaime Deigh is a teacher at R.E. Baker Elementary in Bentonville, Arkansas who’s made an impact on a lot of students’ lives.
Reading Time
Her class read the book “Almost Super” by Marion Jensen, and after that, they had a week-long activity of dressing up to different themes each day.
“Spirit Week”
In the week that followed their book reading, the school had a “Spirit Week” where students and teachers would show up at school in costumes according to each day’s theme – “Super Comfy Day” for Monday, “Super Kind Day” on Tuesday, “Super Bright Day” for Wednesday, and “Super Silly Day” on Thursday.
“Superhero Day”
To conclude the week, they had a “Superhero Day” on Friday, where the students would come to school in their favorite superhero costumes.
Caroline’s Hero
One of the students, Caroline Carlson, had a unique choice of superhero – she wanted to dress up as her Teacher Jaime.
Planning The Day
Cortney Carlson, Caroline’s mom, said, “All week, Caroline was saying, ‘I want to be like Miss Deigh. She is a superhero.'” So she called Teacher Jaime to ask what she would wear on the final day of “Spirit Week.”
Twinning
Teacher Jaime and Cortney coordinated to match their outfits that day. Caroline and her “superhero” wore matching R.E. Baker Elementary T-shirts, a denim jacket, jeans, and tennis shoes.
She’s Overwhelmed
Teacher Jaime was touched by the little girl’s gesture. She said that in her 19 years of teaching, this was the first time she encountered such a sweet gesture from a student. She said, “You just never know the impact that you have on someone every day just through daily interaction.”
