Minnesota Family Builds 30-Foot Tall Snowman For Christmas

People of all ages look forward to the multitude of activities that winter has to offer. The Christmas season is joyful and exciting that even grown-ups enjoy the simple act of creating a snowman.

Meet The Fobbes

In Buffalo, Minnesota, a man named Eric Fobbe got his family involved in a “tiny” project he had thought of for Christmas.

Yearly Tradition

In the past years, the Fobbes have created snowmen 12, 20, and 25 feet in height, but their 2023 snowman was not only the tallest but also the widest they’ve ever made.

Gigantic Snowman

In 2023, Eric gathered snow from the entire neighborhood, piled it up, and then used a snowblower to create one massive pile.

Giant Hat

It took his family 40 hours of focused labor to complete the project. They even went so far as to construct makeshift steps on the back so that Frosty could wear a 75-pound hat.

Fully Clothed

Large mittens, wooden eyes, and a traffic cone for a nose completed the snowman’s accessories, which gave him a perpetually happy expression for the whole neighborhood to enjoy.

Maintaining Frosty

According to Eric, taking care of the snowman was a daily chore. Snow had to be added frequently for maintenance, particularly when the weather turned sunny or the temperature climbed above thirty degrees.

People Were Coming By

But all their hard work paid off when their Frosty became a local attraction that drew visitors from throughout Minnesota, and what made this project even more unique were the smiles it gave visitors and the sense of community it promoted.

One For The Books

While Mr. Frosty Fobbe was an impressive snowman, the highest was really a 122-foot-tall “snowwoman” from Bethel, Maine, according to Guinness World Records. They actually used skis for eyelashes and truck tires for buttons since she was so enormous. Nevertheless, you don’t see a snowman as magnificent as the Fobbes’ very often!
