Meet Chris
Chris Punsalan is a 29-year-old Filipino vlogger/influencer who currently resides in Henderson, Nevada with his family, including his 97-year-old grandma.
Lola’s Story
Chris’ grandma, whom he calls “Lola” (which translates to grandmother in Tagalog), was an elementary school teacher in the Philippines for more than twenty years.
Where Would She Go?
In 2015, when his lola was 88 years old, Chris’ family had to decide if they were going to hire a full-time caregiver for their grandma or take her to a care home.
But Chris Had A Different Idea
Chris didn’t want his lola to go to a care home, let alone see her be with someone she doesn’t know, so he decided he would be the one to take care of her full-time.
Their Special Bond
Aside from “lola,” Chris also often calls his grandma “Apu,” which is the Kapampangan version of grandma – a dialect spoken in Tarlac, a province in the Philippines, where Chris grew up.
People Love Them
Chris had always wanted to be a well-known YouTuber. He has been sharing photos of his lola since 2014 and vlogging since 2019, and it was only then when he started sharing his everyday life with his lola that people started noticing his content.
He’s Hard Working
Chris has dedicated all of his time to his lola. They have a routine that they follow every day, which includes preparing her bed, setting up her pillows in comfortable positions, helping her drink water, watching “The Price Is Right,” praying the rosary, and reciting her daily affirmations.
He’s Worried
Despite having a great time spending every day with his lola, Chris admits that sometimes, reality sets in and he feels afraid whenever he realizes that his lola won’t be around anymore anytime soon as she has been really forgetful lately.
But He Does His Best
Chris knows that this is the reality of life, so he just decides to treasure every moment that he now has with his lola. He always goes the extra mile to make sure she’s comfortable and knows how much he loves her.
