74-Year-Old Cancer Survivor Puts On Her Dancing Shoes Again And Encourages Others With Her Talent

Health is wealth, as they say. But when tough times come when our health fails and our dreams start to seem impossible, the strength inside us will be the only thing that keeps us going and fighting.

Meet Sonia

Sonia McNulty is a talented ballerina with an unshakable spirit.

How She Started

Her love for ballet started when she was just two-and-a-half years old, and she didn’t stop nurturing her talent despite life’s trials.

Talented And Skillful

Aside from her talent in ballet, she also developed an interest in architecture. She worked on several projects with her brilliant architect father.

She’s Also A Writer

Sonia is not only a talented dancer, but also an intelligent writer. She had written children’s stories that contained whimsy, humor, and life lessons, and she had fun working on them and sharing them with the world.

Tough Times

Sadly, later on in her life, Sonia was diagnosed with stomach cancer and it almost shattered all her dreams, but she decided to face it boldly and with so much resilience.

Getting Back On Track

Sonia spent three years recovering and relearning how to move around and dance with her “new body” – without a stomach.

Unstoppable

She joined The West Australian Ballet Adult classes, dropped everything she already knew, and started learning ballet from scratch.

An Inspiration

She is now back on her tiptoed feet, dancing freely, and inspiring other people with big dreams who have also been through or going through dark times.
