Two Surfers Save Starving Dog From Cave Who Has Been Missing For 3 Months

Dogs go missing all the time. However, it’s pretty rare to hear about a missing canine being found in a cave near the sea, like in this case.

It All Started with an Innocent Surfing Trip

Zach Regan and Matty Johnson went on a little vacation to the isolated west coast of Vancouver’s Island on August 1, 2020.

The two men had plans to engage in fishing and surfing.

Matty Spotted Four Furry Legs in a Nearby Cave While on a Boat One Day

He almost immediately recognized the legs as that of a dog.

Matty and Zach Approached the Lonely Canine

They immediately noticed that she was cold, wet, and utterly terrified

Their First Instinct Was to Feed Her

The homeless dog enjoyed some CBD treats to satisfy her appetite and keep calm at the same time.

Last Minute, The Two Surfers Decided to Save Her

“We were trying to beat an upcoming storm, but we made the decision to save the dog,” Matty explained.

Helping the Dog Was Quite Difficult

According to the surfers, the rescue of the dog involved a “wetsuit, a surfboard, a lasso, almost being bitten in the face, a reef, big waves, and awesome teamwork.”

Once They Reached Dry Land, Zach and Matty Searched for the Dog’s Owners

And luckily for them… the owners were located!

Matty and Zach learned that the dog’s name is Stella.

Stella’s Owners for Sure Thought She Was Dead

After Stella got loose on the Juan de Fuca Trail that they were hiking on three months ago, they never thought they’d see her again. But now she’s back in their care!

The Surfers Remain Humble Following Their Good Deed

Forget the fame and attention. According to Matty, the only reason he wants to share this story was “to spread good news and inspire people to put themselves out there when the opportunity arises.”

Matty and Zach are good people!
