Smart Dog’s Motherly Instinct Helped Save Abandoned 2-Day-Old Baby

Meet Mkombozi

Mkombozi is a tan short-haired mixed breed Kenyan dog who made history in Kenya.

She Found An Angel

The dog was looking for food when she found a two-day-old baby wrapped in cloth in Nairobi’s Ngong Forest.

Her Motherly Instinct

“She reckoned it was a young animal and possibly wanted to bring it up,” Jean Gilchrist, executive director of the Kenya SPCA, said.

A Family Dog

Also, Mkombozi’s family had children and she was always around when the babies were born, so she was used to the sound of babies crying.

Her New Life

When her last puppy died, Mkombozi was taken in by the Kenya SPCA where she got her name Mkombozi which is a Swahili word for “Savior”.

Blessing Her Owners

People had been reaching out to Mkombozi’s family to bless them with educational and food assistance after hearing about the heroic deed of their dog.

She Passed Away

Mkombozi died in 2014, but she most definitely left a mark in the hearts of the people she touched.

Her Legacy

Even people on the internet are convinced that the dog’s story will remain in our hearts forever.
