Sometimes, genuine love and dedication are all it takes to produce something out of nothing.
Love-Hate Relationship
Siblings have complicated relationships. They often annoy each other but when times get rough, they can be sure that they’ve got each other’s backs no matter what.
Best Bro
Maverick Francisco Oyao is a Culture and Arts Education student who managed to use his creative thinking and skills to save his sister’s prom problem.
Prom Is Coming
Maverick’s sister, Lu Asey Keanna, was worried that her parents wouldn’t be able to afford to buy or even rent a ball gown for her upcoming Junior-Senior (JS) Prom.
Her Brother To The Rescue
Maverick didn’t want his sister to miss the magical night so he went to the textile store to buy materials with only Php 3,000 (around $62).
All Set
Even with his limited budget, Maverick was able to get everything he needed. He then started drafting the design and got to sewing.
Unique And Fabulous
The skirt of the ball gown has crisscross patterns with white satin ribbons and is decorated with plastic flowers, clear crystal beads, and sequins.
Finished With Elegance
Maverick then hand-painted the corset with ombré blue. After drying, he then added some blue swirls all over and finished it off with dazzling blue ombre sleeves.
The Finished Product
Both Maverick and his sister were proud of the outcome. Lu confidently wore and flaunted her uniquely elegant winter-themed ball gown to prom.
His Inspiration
Maverick said that his inspiration was the world-renowned Filipino fashion designer, Michael Cinco, who also noticed his work and said, “This is a very inspiring story… LOVE inspires people to create beautiful things in the world…”
