Some people are afraid of growing old alone because they won’t have anyone to spend time with when all of their family members go on with their own lives and families.
The Reality Of Life
No matter how much we deny it, it’s part of life for us to grow old and eventually become empty nesters with our partners when our children build their own families and move to different places far from us.
Tiki’s Family
It’s fortunate for Tiki Joyner Edwards that she found someone she could trust to look after her elderly parents, Trent and Cianne Joyne, who live alone in their old house.
Meet Romemylion
15-year-old Romemylion Mitchell lives across the street from Tiki’s parents and “checks on them every day and has grown to love and care for them deeply.”
Running Errands
Romemylion goes with Trent to the store and helps him shop for what he needs then helps him carry the groceries inside. Sometimes, he also cuts the grass, does some chores, and whatever else the elderly couple needs.
Hectic Schedule
It’s impressive how Romemylion still has the time to help his neighbors as he is a busy kid too who’s got school work, a social life with other teenage kids, and many other personal responsibilities.
Selfless Acts
Trent and Cianne didn’t even have to pay the 15-year-old for his time or help. He is just a selfless young man who gives his time without asking for or expecting anything in return.
Like Family
Because of the amount of time they’ve spent together, Romemylion has in some way become part of the family. When Tiki’s mom was admitted to the hospital for a few months, the young man was there to see how she was doing, and “he busted out crying and just held her tight,” said Tiki.
They Need A Hand
Romemylion’s story is proof that there are still some teenagers who care about their elders and are compassionate enough to give a hand to those who need help.
