Senior High School Student Helps Bullied Schoolmates By Setting Up A Laundry Room

Being able to wear clean clothes every day is a privilege not everyone has.

Meet Jimmy

Jimmy Tomredle is a high school senior class president at Lacey Township High School in New Jersey who has the heart to serve his schoolmates.

Bullying Problem

He saw that some students at his school are getting picked on for wearing dirty clothes, and he couldn’t just not do something about it.

A Bright Idea

He came up with the idea of setting up a washing machine in one of the rooms at school so students could wash their clothes independently. He said, “I thought bringing free laundry services would be beneficial.”

He’s Got The Donations

Jimmy spent years working on the project. He sent out several letters and emails to businesses until he heard back from Anchor Appliance from West Creek on March 20, 2023, that they would be donating a washer and a dryer.

Ready To Open

The machines were installed in May 2023, and Jimmy’s laundry room inside the campus was now ready to serve the students.

The Big Day

The moment finally came when the laundry room was going to be opened for everyone. Jimmy made a speech for the students and faculty members in the grand opening ceremony, and everyone was proud of him.

The Ribbon Has Been Cut

Jimmy took the scissors and cut the red ribbon, which signifies the laundry services’ official opening.

A Huge Help

Jimmy named the project, “Tomredle’s Terrifically Tidy Laundry Services.” The room, which also has free laundry detergent, is located in a private space inside the school where students can freely get their clothes cleaned.
