Noble Firefighter Finds Baby In Safe Haven Box At Fire Station And Adopts Her

Having a baby is one of the greatest joys for an expectant couple.

Meet Vincent And Katie

Ocala, Florida couple Vincent and Katie met in the Navy and got married in 2016, but unfortunately, they weren’t able to bear a child.

On Duty

Vincent, an Ocala County firefighter, was on duty one day when the alarm went off, but it wasn’t because of a fire.

A Baby Was In

The alarm meant that a baby had been left in the station’s Safe Haven box, a place where parents can leave babies they can no longer care for.

He Fell In Love

Vincent immediately went to the box and opened it to find a baby girl staring up at him. Right then and there, he fell in love and called his wife to let her know what had happened.

He Left A Note

Following protocol, Vincent immediately took the baby to the hospital to get her health checked. While doing so, he left a note in the blankets she was wrapped in, saying, “Hello. My name is Vincent and I have been working for the fire department for the last 8 years. (I) and my wife have been trying to have a family for almost a decade now and, if given the opportunity, we would like to adopt this baby.”

She Fell In Love Too

Two days later Vincent was able to take the baby home to finally introduce her to his wife. Upon seeing the baby, Katie fell in love with her immediately as well.

Meet Baby Zoey

Vincent and Katie named the baby girl Zoey and fostered her while the adoption was still in process.

They’re A Family

After three months, Zoey was officially their daughter. The adoption was made official through a Zoom meeting. When the presiding adoption judge declared to them, “You guys are a family!,” Katie was overjoyed and exclaimed, “Holy guacamole, we’re a family!”
