Ezphia and Agricola escorted and protected several British royal family members, including the Queen herself, for seven years.

Until He Had To Retire

When Ezphia decided to start a family, he sadly had to retire from the service, which also meant that he needed to let go of his partner.

A Catch-Up Visit

In 2019, Ezphia, together with his family, decided to pay the horse a visit. It was also the year when Agricola’s retirement date was set.

An Emotional Reunion

When the two friends saw each other, 15 years of being apart were nothing. “It was a really emotional moment. He recognized me instantly. It sounds odd, but it was as if I hadn’t ever left,” said Ezphia.

Up For Bidding

When it was time for Agricola’s adoption, his old partner bid £1,000 for him, but another person bid a higher amount of £5,000 for the horse.

He Still Got His Friend Back

In the end, after writing a letter that explains how he had been Agricola’s first handler and how much the horse meant to him, the Queen’s Guard decided to give Agricola to him, knowing that the horse would be happiest with his best friend.
