Some things in our lives have already become too familiar to us that we often forget to be grateful for them, like perhaps having a comfortable bed to sleep on.
Meet Daeyr
Daeyr Neely was only two years old when his mom, Dionna, lost her job, causing them to become homeless.
Waiting For Their Break
They lived on the streets for quite some time until they transferred to a shelter in Detroit in hopes of qualifying for public housing.
Finally!
After living in the shelter for quite a long time, Daeyr and Dionna were finally able to move into their own home.
A Few More Problems
Despite having their own place, Daeyr and Dionna didn’t have much furniture and or supplies to furnish their new house.
His Struggle
Daeyr even had to sleep on piles of blankets for some months because he didn’t have a bed.
Help Came
Humble Design, a nonprofit that works to help homeless people in several cities, heard about Daeyr and Dionna’s struggles, provided them with furniture, and even decorated their home for free.
The Grand Reveal
One of the best parts of the home furnishing was when Daeyr got to see his own bed for the first time in years. His eyes widened, and his mouth dropped in shock before he broke down to his mom, crying tears of joy.
New Home, New Life
Now that their housing situation has been settled, Dionna can focus on attending nursing school to pursue her career to provide for her son.
