We, humans, have the option to enjoy our golden years in a special senior living facility, but what about a facility for aging dogs? Well, it turns out, there is such a thing.
There’s A Special Senior Center Just for Dogs in New Jersey
It’s called Marty’s Place Senior Dog Sanctuary, and it’s located in Upper Freehold Township, New Jersey.
The Facility Was Inspired by a Dog Named Marty
Marty was an elderly dog who was scheduled to be euthanized while residing in a shelter. However, the day prior, a rescue organization took him in, and he then spent the next year and a half under the care of different dog care facilities.
Although Marty is no longer alive due to health complications, his story inspired the start of Marty’s Place so that other elderly dogs like him could get a chance to live a long, happy life.
At Marty’s Place, Each Dog Resident Enjoys a Happy and Fulfilled Life
Not only do the dogs get plenty of space to run around, medical and dental care, and all of the other resources they require, but they also get the luxury of taking walks on trails, swimming in an indoor pool, and relaxing in a dog-friendly family room.
The Facility is Specifically Designed to House Elderly Stray Dogs or Dogs Given Up By Their Owners
Whether taken in due to the fact that they have yet to be adopted or because their owner voluntarily placed them in the facility, Marty’s Place welcomes them.
Dog Owners Choose to Put Their Dog in Marty’s Place for Different Reasons
Many dog owners have genuine reasons for placing their beloved canine in Marty’s Place. For instance, some are unable to financially or physically provide for the changing needs of their aging dog.
Regardless of the Reason, the Dog Retirement Facility Has its Arms Wide Open
Marty’s Place doesn’t judge owners for placing their dog in their facility, nor do they discriminate the reason why a dog has not yet been adopted.
The facility wants nothing more than to help older canines get the forever home they deserve.
Little Do People Know, Adopting a Senior Dog Can Be Very Rewarding
While adopting a senior dog isn’t for everyone, it can be more beneficial than one might realize.
“People don’t realize how rewarding it can be to adopt a senior dog. They know and they will show you endless love until their dying day,” Marty’s Place Volunteer, Rennie Rankin, said.
