Sometimes even if an owner loves their dog, they just simply can’t take care of them because of different reasons.
Meet Reese
Reese, a 13-year-old Dachshund mix, was found on a stranger’s property – alone and sad.
A Note
The woman who found her saw a letter that said the things she does and does not like, and also the reason why the former owner needed to let her go.
Taking Her Home
The woman made an effort to take Reese home with her for a while and contacted Royal Animal Refuge, a local animal rescue shelter, through a Facebook post.
Temporary Home
One of Royal Animal Refuge’s veteran foster parents, Robyn Klein, volunteered to take the lonely dog home with her until they could find her a permanent home.
Someone Noticed Her
Robyn’s mother, Suzy Reeves, saw Reese and felt there was something special about the dog.
A Special Connection
“(Robyn’s) mom is an older lady, and she just recently lost her baby (a dog) a few months ago, so she stepped up to foster. Robyn said her mom is so in love with Reese already,” Mariel Weigand, shelter director for Royal Animal Refuge, said.
Adopting Reese
Before, Robyn just wanted to foster Reese temporarily, but her family fell in love with the senior dog so they decided to adopt her, and they made their adoption official pretty quickly.
Happy Ending For Reese
Mariel said, “She’s very happy to give her a home. She told me she’s going to be loved. And it’s a happy ending for Reese.”
There are other dogs whose lives changed because of Royal Animal Refuge, and Neema is one of them. You can watch her story in the video below.
