Some pets aren’t only “just pets”. They’re also a cherished member of their families.
Meet Maisie
Maisie is a springer spaniel owned by Codie Hutton who lives in Suffolk, East Anglia.
Road Trip
In November, Codie was out on a long drive with Maisie and her father when she stopped to let her dog stretch her legs.
Fireworks Went Out
Suddenly, a firework exploded nearby, which startled Maisie, causing her to bolt away.
She Didn’t Come Back
Knowing Maisie well, Codie anticipated that she would emerge from behind some bushes and return. But, Maisie did not come back this time.
Someone Saw Her
After several hours, Codie and her father began to worry more and more about their missing dog. They even heard that someone saw her far from where they were parked. “Someone saw her get clipped by a car, which was a blessing in disguise as she wasn’t hurt and it altered her course away from the A1,” Codie said.
Still Missing
Codie and her father had a restless night looking for Maisie. In the next morning, they picked up where they left off with their search and still got nothing.
Terrible News
The next day, they received a call about a dog-like creature found flattened. The vets weren’t able to find a microchip, but the markings on the animal’s legs convinced Codie it was her beloved Maisie so they took the animal home and buried it in their backyard.
Plot Twist
A few days later, they got a call about a dog who looked just like Maisie, spotted miles away. Codie and her father drove to the location, and as soon as they arrived, they confirmed it was their Maisie!
She’s Back
The dog and Codie’s family were overjoyed at the reunion. Codie’s 3-year-old son, Tylen, was also thrilled to have his best friend back. As it turns out, the animal they had buried was actually a fox, not Maisie.
