Getting lost may sometimes extract all of the hope one has. Good thing this little boy got found just in time.
Waking Up To Nothing
River Schomaker’s mom woke up at 6:00 AM on a Saturday to find out her son was missing.
Searching The Scene
Dog handler Becky Irving waved her hands at Officer Daniel Tatro when she spotted something.
He’s Alive
The two-year-old was found lying in the bushes, crying and scared.
A Few Injuries
“I could see the blackberry bushes were intertwined around his legs, there was a thick vine that was stuck around his right shoulder,” said Officer Tatro.
His Initial Reaction
Little River immediately clung to Officer Tatro, which melted the rescuer’s heart.
He Wouldn’t Let Go
The toddler was understandably cold and scared. That’s why he wouldn’t let go of the officer who put a jacket on him to help warm him up.
An Emotional Moment
Officer Tatro said, “Spending time like that and what River must have gone through stuck in those blackberry bushes. So, you feel bad for him… you want him to feel loved.”
Keeping Him Safe
After the incident, a juvenile judge decided to place River in protective custody while his mother undergoes treatment.
