Grief is always part of the healing process. Even animals experience that.
Meet Scooter
Scooter is a senior Chihuahua who got taken in by an animal shelter when his owner passed away.
Completely Normal Feelings
Due to his owner passing away, Scooter felt grief, and this is a completely normal response when you lose someone with whom you spent most years of your life.
Their Routine
His owner used to wish him good night by tucking him to bed, and it’s the one thing he misses the most.
His Favorite Blanket
When he got into the shelter, he would tuck himself to bed just like how his late owner did. He also has his favorite dark blue blanket with stars, which his owner bought him.
Chihuahua-Lover
When a woman who has adopted two Chihuahuas from the same vet in the past heard about Scooter’s story, she decided to take him in.
Without Hesitation
“I saw Jan’s Facebook post, along with the rest of the world, My husband Tim and I were lying in bed and it … brought me to tears. Without hesitation, I showed Tim and I said, ‘I have to go get him,” said the woman.
A New Home
Scooter is now happy with his new family. Although he will never likely forget his past owner, he is now content and is surrounded by good people.
Many People Are Moved
Those who’ve watched Scooter’s story got their hearts “broken into pieces” but they’re also happy for him when he found a new family.
