A concerned citizen turned a tragic situation into a cause for celebration when they placed a call to the St. Louis Stray Rescue after noticing a dog hiding in a junk pile. When rescuers arrived, the dog was so overjoyed that it buried its face in their arms.

The poor little guy was hiding beneath an abandoned mattress beside an apartment building.

By the caring staff members who found it!
Chowder Was Likely Used to Train Fighting Dogs
Animal rescuers suspect that Chowder was used as a bait dog to train larger Pit Bulls to fight.
He Was Injured
The poor dog was discovered to have injuries to its eyes and face.
And So Happy To Be Safe
Once the animal rescue team picked up Chowder, he buried his face in their arms and let them hold him in the car.
Chowder Will Get A New Home
After his recovery, Chowder will be put up for adoption and will be able to find a new, loving home!
