Meet Jasmine
Jasmine Mazard-Larry is a 17-year-old who just graduated from Dr. Kiran C. Patel High School.
A History-Maker
She made history by graduating as the first valedictorian of her school, but getting where she is right now was not an easy journey.
A Life-Changing Event
Everything changed for her family when a devastating fire ruined their home four years ago. This made them homeless, and that was only one of the problems they had to face.
Difficult Times
Jasmine’s mom was pregnant when the fire happened. The incident also caused her father severe injuries, and things were becoming to seem hopeless for all of them.
More Challenges
As if their struggles at that time weren’t enough, Jasmine was also diagnosed with ADHD and was experiencing hearing loss, but they didn’t hinder her from chasing her dreams.
An Excellent Student
Despite everything she had to go through, Jasmine learned to use her experiences as a footstool to work hard to turn their lives around. She studied hard and the fruits of her labor are now within reach.
Exceptionally Smart
By the end of the school year, Jasmine got an impressive GPA of 8.07. Afterward, she enrolled in Advanced Placement classes and engaged in dual enrollment, and actively participated in the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education program.
She’s Versatile
While studying, Jasmine also participated in lots of extracurricular activities like the art club, student government association, student council, and speech and debate team.
Her Inspiration
According to her, her little brother is the one who motivates her the most. She’s inspired by her family to strive hard and chase after her dream of becoming a doctor.
