When we’re faced with difficult situations, it can be hard to choose between doing what we want and doing what is right.
Meet Dave
49-year-old Dave Tally from Arizona faced a difficult choice when he came across a bag that would change his life.
The Story Of His Life
He used to be a supervisor at a landscaping firm, but he got fired in 1999 when his driver’s license got suspended because of drunk driving.
He’s Now Homeless
Dave struggled with alcoholism and other addictions and the Tempe Community Action Agency helped him recover. As an act of gratitude, he now volunteers in the organization.
He Saw A Bag
One day, Dave suddenly found a backpack full of cash and a laptop.
He Did The Right Thing
Although he knew the money could give him some comfort for some time, Dave did the right thing and surrendered the bag to the Tempe Community Action Agency who found out that it belongs to a man named Brace Belanger.
He’s Buying A Car
The grateful student at Arizona State University said that he lost the money while he was on his way to buy a used car with it.
People Heard The News
When the story hit the news, a lot of people sent their help to Dave, like a lawyer who offered their services pro bono to help Dave with an old court case, and people even offered him some free dental work.
His Life Changed
People also donated cash that totaled over $8,000. Along with that, job offers reached Dave. Even the mayor read a proclamation declaring it “Dave Tally Day”.
