Being a hero is not dependent on age. Anyone can save lives, like this little kid.
Meet Davyon
Davyon Johnson is a sixth-grader from Muskogee Middle School who’s hailed a hero by his community.
A Bottle Cap Incident
Principal Latricia Dawkins said that during school at the 6th and 7th Grade Academy, a student who was trying to loosen the cap of a water bottle using his mouth ended up with the cap in his throat.
Davyon Helped
The student made his way to a classroom where Davyon was in. The hero kid successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver on the choking student, which he learned from YouTube.
The Second Incident
On the same day, Davyon came across a burning house. He said, “It was a disabled lady, and she was walking out of her house. She was on her porch. But I thought, being a good citizen, I would cross and help her.”
The Sheriff’s Office Honored Him
To recognize his heroic deeds, the Muskogee Police Department, Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, and Muskogee Public Schools honored Davyon at a school board meeting. He’s named an honorary member of the police and sheriff’s departments.
Proud Mom
Davyon’s mom, LaToya Johnson, stated how she felt about her son’s achievements to the Muskogee Phoenix. She said, “I’m just a proud mom.”
Adored By Many
Principal Dawkins is also extremely proud of Davyon. She said, “He is just a kind soul and well-liked by his peers and staff alike.”
