Meet Jaxon
Jaxon Carter is a sweet 6-year-old boy who had been through a lot before he even graduated from kindergarten.
A Tragic Story
He lost his mom, Taryn Marie Gainey, in an apartment fire in July 2023, and this changed his life forever.
New Beginnings
Aside from grieving his mother’s passing, Jaxon had to start kindergarten at a new school, which meant he had to adjust to a new environment with new faces.
A Blessing
His father, Justin Carter, enrolled him at New Dawn Academy, which had become a “lifesaver” for them. Justin said, “I had to find a school for him last minute and it just so happened that the school was a great fit for him. The school alone was a lifesaver.”
Excellent Student
Throughout the school year, Jaxon excelled in his studies, so his teacher asked him if he would like to give a speech on their graduation day.
And He Did
With the help of his grandma, Jaxon wrote a short but inspiring graduation speech. His dad didn’t know about the contents of the speech at the time so it was all a surprise for him on his son’s graduation day.
It’s Time
When it was time for him to give his speech, he began by saying, “When I started kindergarten at New Dawn Academy in August 2022, I was a little 5-year-old who had lost my beautiful mother a month before,” then he paused for a moment before he went on with the rest of it.
It’s Been A Year
Jaxon talked about all the things he learned in the previous year. He thanked his family, his friends, and his teacher who played a big role in his life as his second parent in school.
His “Beautiful Mommy”
Above all the things he mentioned in his speech, what impacted his listeners the most was when he mentioned his “beautiful mommy.” “I dedicate my speech, good grades, all school awards, and my kindergarten graduation to my beautiful mommy, who I will always love and miss so very much,” he said, and everyone, including his dad, was emotional and in tears by the end of his speech.
