When we find someone we instantly get along with, color, species, or size doesn’t matter anymore.
The Ape Action Africa
Ape Action Africa is one of the largest primate conservation organizations in Africa that looks after over 280 orphaned primates in Cameroon.
Meet Bobo
Bobo the giant gorilla was rescued by Ape Action Africa in 1996.
The Leader Of The Group
Bobo is the dominant male in his group where he leads 3 other male gorillas and 3 female gorillas.
Intimidating Giants
Gorillas can be intimidating because of their size. At the same time, they’re also known for being strong and fierce when threatened.
But They Can Be Gentle Too
Despite his huge build, Bobo’s caretakers saw his soft side when he came across a tiny primate called bush baby.
A Rare Sight
According to Ape Action Africa spokeswoman Elissa O’Sullivan, “Bush babies are usually nocturnal, so it is very rare to see one during the day. We have never witnessed a wild primate interacting with a rescued one at Mefou Sanctuary.”
He’s Gentle With The Little One
Elissa also said, “On his morning checks, our gorilla caregiver discovered Bobo cradling a young, wild bush baby. The bush baby showed no fear of Bobo, moving around his body and spending time hopping around in an open grassy area, before choosing to return to Bobo.”
He Doesn’t Share
The other gorillas were curious about the bush baby. They were checking to see if Bobo might share the tiny creature with them, but the giant gorilla kept the bush baby to himself.
Playtime’s Over
The caretakers said that Bobo and the bush baby spent over 2 hours together until Bobo returned the tiny creature to a tree before scampering away.
