Life is not only about Math, Science, and Language. More often, things that we encounter in our everyday lives are about practical knowledge we’re not usually taught in school.
Knowledge Plus Skills
Schools are known for teaching various subjects that hone a child’s mind, but some institutions go the extra mile in teaching their students practical life skills.
Important Skills
Aside from being smart in major subjects, it’s also important for a child to know some life skills like doing the laundry, paying bills, or perhaps, taking care of a car.
An All-Girls School
Stella Maris College is an all-girls school in Manly, New South Wales, Australia whose mission is to empower young women to fulfill their full potential as future leaders of society and to make a positive impact on the world.
Their Partner
Stella Maris College partners with GalMatic which is a foundation whose goal is to provide important car maintenance skills to women and new, teenage drivers.
More About GalMatic
GalMatic teaches about 100,000 teenagers in the Sydney area every year. They have a staff of all women trainers who have years of experience in teaching and working with young drivers.
Sparing Them From Hassle
GalMatic, along with Stella Maris College, aims to give young girls the skills they need to take care of some common car maintenance issues on their own and save them the hassle of having to bring their car to a mechanic.
Preparing Young Girls
GalMatic believes that the young ladies in the class can take care of their cars themselves by knowing what to do especially during times of emergency.
Boosting Their Confidence
The program’s main goal is to establish confidence and independence in young women, and we hope that more schools will follow the college’s steps in teaching students essential life skills.
