There’s nothing more joyful for a child in foster care than finding out that there’s a family that wants to take them home and become part of it.
Meet Evan
Evan is a young boy who had to spend five years in foster care before he got his very own family.
His Story Got Featured
In 2020, his story was featured for the first time in Wednesday’s Child, a Dallas, Texas-based television station featuring children in foster care finding their forever home.
The Waiting Continues
Evan still didn’t get adopted right away after the Wednesday’s child feature; maybe because of the pandemic and the lockdowns or the right family for him just wasn’t ready yet.
The Second Time
In 2021, Wednesday’s Child featured 10-year-old Evan once again, and maybe this time, the right family would learn about him and decide to take him in.
About Evan
On Evan’s second TV exposure, Wednesday’s Child featured a side of him that loves animals. In fact, he could talk about animals all day. Plus, the TV show highlighted his sense of humor throughout the entire video.
Great News
A man named Cliff contacted foster care and expressed his desire to adopt Evan. As it turns out, Cliff worked as a paraprofessional at the school Evan attended. Their communication got cut off during the pandemic until his colleague shared the 2021 Wednesday’s Child spotlight with him.
His New Family
Cliff showed Evan’s Wednesday’s Child episode to his husband, Cory, who agreed with the decision to adopt the young boy. They knew about Evan’s special needs and his need for behavioral therapy, and they’re ready to commit to him and his needs for the long haul.
A New Life
In October 2022, Evan’s adoption became official in front of a judge. He now has his own parents, a little sister, and a little brother.
