Sometimes, the only way we can get what we want is by trying and trying over and over again.
Meet Scout
Scout was once a part of Antrim County Animal Shelter, and that was until he managed to escape and find his forever home.
His Past
No one really knew about Scout’s past, but the shelter and his new owners observed signs that he came from an abusive home. To add to that, he was also found with BB pellets in his jowl.
Finding Home
Although he was already living a normal life in the shelter, Scout still longed to have a place he could call home and people he could call his family so he decided to make an escape.
His Escape Plan
Scout managed to climb a 10-foot chain-link fence, jump over another 6-foot solid fence, and cross a busy highway to make his way to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility nearby. And this has happened three times!
Welcome Home
On his third attempt, Scout went straight to the Meadow Brook facility’s front door, and settled down on a couch, so the staff and residents finally decided to welcome him.
Who Wants A Dog?
Marna Robertson, the Meadow Brook Administrator, said, “He did that one time, two times, three times, and obviously that’s something that you should pay attention to. And I asked the staff, ‘Well, he wants to be here. Would anybody like to have a dog?’”
A New Resident
Since then, Scout has been a part of Meadow Brook and the residents and staff love him. He regularly strolls down the hallways and visits residents, looking for treats.
Comfort Dog
He is very much protective of the residents and he has the ability to sense if someone is unwell or at the end of their life, and when that happens, he stays by their side and offers them comfort and love.
