Christmas is not just about exchanging gifts. More importantly, it’s about giving hope and sharing love to people in need.
Playing Secret Santa
A man in east Idaho decided to play Secret Santa in 2020 by teaming up with EastIdahoNews.com.
Giving To The Needy
The Secret Santa and EastIdahoNews.com dedicated $500,000 for deserving people and families. Their plan is to give gifts unique to people’s circumstances every day until Christmas.
Meet Diana
Diana Boldman and her husband, Cameron, are two of those who were chosen for the surprise gifts. They are both in their 60s and are still working hard because they couldn’t afford a formal retirement.
Their Routine
Every day, the couple wakes up early to deliver newspapers using their old van that already has almost 240,000 miles on it.
Diana’s Side Hustle
After the papers are delivered, Diana heads off to her full-time job at McDonald’s since Cameron is on disability and she needs more funds to hopefully retire in the next few years.
The Big Surprise
When the big day comes, the East Idaho News team walks into McDonald’s where Diana is preparing french fries. She’s surprised to meet Nate from the local news but recognizes him immediately.
The Little Green Box
Nate hands over a little green box to Diana. It contains $5,000 worth of gas gift cards and a $1,000 check.
It Doesn’t End There
Afterward, Nate leads Diana out of the store and presents her with a brand new red SUV! “Tell the Secret Santa thank you ever so much,” says Diana with overflowing joy and gratitude.
