Accidents can happen anytime, and our pets, when left alone in the house, can be at high risk of danger, especially when left with no emergency escape.

They made sure to lock the doors of their Coventry home before leaving and they were at peace that their three dogs would be safe inside.

But Accidents Do Happen

About an hour later, 12-year-old Anthony Lombardi and 13-year-old Mario Comella went outside with their bikes to play when they heard a fire alarm going off at their friend’s house.

Anthony and Mario rushed to the house to see what was happening, and then they heard the family’s three dogs barking. Anthony said, “We saw the dogs, they were panicking and barking, and it was so loud.”

They Called Them

The two boys saw smoke coming out of the house so they called their friend who handed the phone to his dad after knowing that their house was on fire.

John gave the boys the code for their home. When they opened the door, they yelled for the dogs, Boo, Faith, and Chase, but only two of them went out.

While Faith and Boo managed to immediately come out of the house, Chase was stuck in his crate with no way to escape, so without any hesitation, Mario ran inside to get him despite the danger.

Mario and Chase got out of the house safely. After a while, the homeowners arrived and were relieved when they saw their three dogs and the two boys safe. As it turns out, one of the dogs flipped the switch and set the stove to a high temperature, which ignited the cutting board that was just on top of it.

They’re Grateful

John and his wife were very much grateful to the two boys for saving their fur babies. They were especially thankful to Mario who risked his life to save Chase. He said that his uncle’s dog passed away in a house fire so he promised himself that he will save Chase no matter what, and he did.
