Sometimes, we have to face several rejections to prepare us for the best that’s yet to come.
Meet Petey
Petey is a shelter dog who had to extend his stay at a small over-capacity shelter because no one wanted to adopt him.
Finding Help
When the shelter staff couldn’t find any potential adopters for Petey, they reached out to the SPCA of Wake County to help find him a home.
He’s Excited
The SPCA happily took Petey, who was also excited to meet new friends. The SPCA Spokesperson Samantha Ranlet said, “As soon as he got here, he was yanking on the leash, trying to get through the door. He bounded into the building.”
A Jolly Dog
The staff saw how “super friendly” and playful Petey is, so they couldn’t believe that nobody wanted to take him home.
Looking For New Parents
The SPCA of Wake County posted a photo of Petey and his adoption status on social media, and just after a month, a new family fell in love with the sweet dog and decided to adopt him.
He’s Home
Petey immediately felt at home in his new house with his new family. He’s well looked after, and he even has his own cozy bed he loves to sleep in.
His New Life
Petey loves hanging around the yard and playing fetch with his family and doggy brother. He also loves cuddles and kisses, and his new parents say that “he’s the perfect addition” to their family.
Up For Adoption
Thanks to the SPCA of Wake County, Petey was able to find a new home. Right now, there are an estimated eight to 10 dogs in the shelter’s care who have been searching for a family for more than a year.
