Someone’s final moments here on earth are so important that the ones who love them make their last wishes possible.
Meet Maggie
Maggie was a lovable dog owned by Elijah Lee Saltzgaber from Sugar House, Utah.
Her Condition
Despite such a happy life she’s lived with her fur parents, unfortunately, Maggie had cancer, and she didn’t have enough time left with her family.
Saying Goodbye
Elijah has made the tough call to have Maggie put down on September 27.
But They Wanted Her To Enjoy First
Elijah knew that Maggie loved the snow, so he wanted her to enjoy “one last snow bank to roll in.”
A Unique Request
According to Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation, Elijah posted a question on Facebook. It said, “Unique request: Does anyone have a shaved ice machine they have put away for the season?”
Making Things Happen
Upon hearing Maggie’s story, staff from Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation shaved some extra ice and loaded it into bins and buckets. Elijah took the snow home to Maggie’s backyard.
One Last Play In Snow
Thanks to the kindness of the people from the ice center, Maggie and her owners got to enjoy one last snow day in September.
A Tearjerker
On September 27, the Salt Lake County Ice Center shared on Facebook “WARNING: Tearjerker. This weekend, a resident contacted our Salt Lake County Ice Center seeking a little snow for their dying dog, Maggie, to play in one last time.”
