Laci Simms was shopping at a Walmart in Princeton, Texas back in December of 2018 when she witnessed a touching event.

A Generous Young Man

“I just witnessed this ‘kid’ pay for a cart of merchandise for a woman in obvious distress about her inability to pay. She was a few people ahead of us and when she had trouble paying her bill he stepped in and told her if she’d wait he would pay her total. Ya’ll, it was $110 dollars!,” says Laci in her Facebook post.

Laci’s post captured the hearts of many which also resulted in a great movement that’s intended to bless the kind cashier.

People Want To Pay John Back

Customer Brandon Weddle is one of the visitors at Walmart who witnessed John’s enthusiasm at work, so he initiated a GoFundMe to raise financial blessings for John.

More Than What’s Expected

The funding eventually raised $37,087 which John will be using for college. At the same time, his Walmart manager conducted a special event that was attended by Princeton Mayor John-Mark Caldwell and Police Chief James Waters who gave the teenager a certificate and a medallion.

Proud But Not Surprised

In an interview, Josefa Lopez, John’s mom, said, “That’s just my son. We tell him always to help people.”
