Meet Vitória
Vitória Bueno is a Brazilian dancer whose story inspires a lot of people.
A Surprise
Bueno told Good Morning America, “My disability was something unexpected by everyone in my family. No one knew that I would not have both arms.”
Her Condition
The doctors diagnosed Vitória’s condition as a “congenital malformation disability” which can be inherited or caused by environmental factors. As for Vitória’s case, the cause of her disability is still unknown.
She Went To Therapy
Vitória said, “And at the age of five I was doing physical therapy, I was doing physical therapy at school and my physical therapist realized my passion for dancing.”
Her Inspiration
Vitória’s physical therapist called her mom after watching a video of Jessica Cox, the world’s first licensed armless pilot who also took dance classes when she was a child.
“Tia Andrea’s Academy”
Vitória continued to share, “(The physical therapist) explained to my mother about ‘Tia Andrea’s Academy’ where I dance today and that there would be a possibility of me starting to dance and told my mother to take me to an experimental class.”
She’s Become A Dancer
Vitória has been dancing ever since. She now also performs for her many followers on social media.
Her Hope
Vitória also told Good Morning America that her hope is to dance to “spread happiness”. She said, “I always like to leave a message to the people who have a dream, not just in dance but in any other area, for them to fight for their dreams. Dedicate yourself and chase your dreams with all your strength.”
