A Huge Challenge

Their world turned upside down when they found out that their newborn son, Mishka, has Down Syndrome.

Because of the anticipated difficulties and financial troubles, Evgeny’s wife wanted to send Mishka to foster care.

Evgeny thought of the idea as “inhumane” and he decided to take care of their son by himself rather than give him away.

Evgeny did what a good father would do. He loved his son with all his heart and gave him all the love there is.

Supporting And Accepting Mishka

The father and son developed an unbreakable bond. Evgeny told himself that he will never get tired of supporting and embracing his son’s difference no matter what.

Becoming An Advocate

Due to his involvement in attending to his son’s special needs, Evgeny also took every opportunity to spread awareness with children that have Down Syndrome.

Reaching Out To Other Parents

Evgeny said, “I want all the articles about Mishka and me that are being published now to convey that idea to society and instill it. And I also want to support, inspire with my example those people who are or will be in the same situation as me.”

The Reality

Down Syndrome affects around 1 out of 1,000 children, and difficulty with mental processes is one of the most common effects, but that doesn’t mean these children need to live with that difficulty. We can make living a lot easier for them by learning about their condition and getting ourselves involved in making a change in the world they live in.
