Watchful Cop Jumps Into The Ocean To Save Drowning Swimmers

Cops deal with lots of different things every day – most of them are a threat even to their own lives.

Meet Officer Coffman

Dylan Coffman is a police officer from Flagler Beach who’s now receiving commendations for his heroic deed on a Tuesday afternoon.

Beach Day

A day at the beach seems like all fun and enjoyment, but you’ll never know the dangers the ocean’s deep and harsh waters can cause.

Officer To The Rescue

When Officer Coffman received a report about two drowning people at Flagler Beach, he immediately rushed near 7th Street and A1A, stripped out of his vest, and fearlessly dove into the ocean.

A Witness

A witness named Brooke Qualls said, “I saw him immediately fly his door open, and he looked right over the boardwalk. I instantly saw him ripping his vest off, and he jumped over the boardwalk (and) ran.”

Another Witness

Another person named Sean McSweeney who saw Officer Coffman’s heroic deed said, “I’d never seen anything like it. It was shocking, at the same time heartwarming, to see that a first responder would just jump into action like that, and it was great.”

Brave Cop

Officer Coffman braved the waters and led the two swimmers back to the shore all by himself, which goes to show how willing he was to risk his own life for the sake of his duty.

Mission Success

The two men successfully made it to shore. They were both exhausted but unharmed, thanks to Officer Coffman’s quick response.

A Hero

People have been showering the brave officer with praise and commendation for his heroic deed. Brooke also said, “You see them do what they do every day, and you can just tell they really know what they’re doing, and they know how to handle pretty much any situation that could be handed to them.”
