Sometimes an extra push is all you need.
Meet Wolfgang
Wolfgang was a stray dog in Phoenix, Arizona who weighed 90 pounds.
Far From Average
Beagles are usually 25 to 30 lbs, so Wolfgang is technically obese with his body weight.
A Health Risk
VCA Hospitals said, “Obesity shortens a dog’s life and makes them more likely to develop disease. It was always accepted that heavy dogs lived a shorter lifespan than lean dogs, usually by 6-12 months.”
Life Of Discomfort
Because of his weight, Wolfgang would flop over and not be able to get back up again. And when the weather was hot he would just start to drool until someone rolled him over again.
A Change Of Lifestyle
Erin, Wolfgang’s new parent, began making special food just for him. He was also going for walks and walking on a water treadmill as a form of exercise.
His Little Buddy
One of his favorite activities is swimming on a water treadmill while carrying a toy in his mouth which is basically his workout buddy.
The Result
After just a few months, Wolfgang lost about 70 percent of his body weight and came down to 32 pounds.
His New Routine
Now Wolfgang loves walking and exercising by going on mile walks at least five or six times every week.
