That journey back to the car with groceries in your hand is always a pain of a trip.
Attention To Groceries
At a Schnucks in Alton, Illinois, a woman was paying too much attention to her groceries which led to a worrisome event.
Having A Seat
She had her baby sitting in a shopping cart, and her groceries were being checked out by the cashiers so she was kinda preoccupied.
Rolling Away
Since the shopping cart doesn’t have brakes on it, it was rolling away in the parking lot with a baby in it.
To The Rescue
Good thing, Ben Mazur, a 25-year-old employee who worked at this Schnucks branch, was retrieving and organizing shopping carts in the parking lot when he saw the runaway cart containing the baby.
Hero Of The Year
Ben, who also happens to be on the autism spectrum, wasted no time and ran to stop the cart and save the child.
Honoring Ben
To thank him for his heroic act, the mayor declared May 5th “Ben Mazur day.”
Turning 25
To make things even better, it was actually Ben’s 25th birthday that day. So basically, he turned 25, saved a child, and got recognized as a hero by everyone.
Happy Birthday, Ben!
Ben got a ton of cupcakes from the manager, customers, and the town mayor.
