Intelligent Rescued Baby Beaver Recognizes The Difference Between Objects

Even though we already know that beavers are intelligent animals, this little one will impress you with her ability to distinguish between objects.

Meet Nibi

Nibi is a rescued baby beaver who showcases her intelligence by knowing how to separate “work” from “pleasure”.

Her Story

When Nibi was just a week old, someone spotted her strolling down a very trafficked street.

Rescuers Came

The Newhouse Wildlife Rescue took Nibi in and wanted to reunite her with her family.

They Tried

The rescuers tried to find Nibi’s family by taking her to a nearby beaver dam. Nibi cried out for her family but no other beavers showed up.

Smart Beaver

The Newhouse Wildlife Rescue decided to take care of Nibi. Eventually, one of the rescuers, Jane Newhouse, noticed how smart the baby beaver was.

Work-Life Balance

Nibi loves playing with balls. She would hold or push them around using her mouth. Other times, she’s into building dams using sticks. But when her toys and sticks are all in one pile together, she will quickly separate them.

Little Builder

Although Nibi had never seen any beaver build a dam before, the way she builds one is undeniably impressive. She has a very particular way of arranging the sticks, which enables her to build great dams.

Training Her

The Newhouse Wildlife Rescue plans to release Nibi into the wild when she gets a little older. With all the abilities she has now, they believe that she’ll be able to survive. However, they’re now doing their best to keep an emotional distance from her to teach her to distrust people.
