Anxious Walmart Cashier Overcomes Jitters During American Idol Audition

Being overcome by anxiety makes us doubt our skills and potential to succeed, thus making it hard for us to reach our dreams.

Meet Kamron

Kamron Lawson is a 21-year-old from West Virginia who took the brave step toward his dream of becoming a singer.

An Avenue To Sing

He is a cashier at Walmart who usually sings at his post and whenever he’s passing the time at his aisle.

A Life-Changing Announcement

His world stopped when one day, while he was on shift at Walmart, the speakers announced that he was invited to audition for American Idol. His colleagues and even the customers were all congratulating him.

Moral Support

On the day of his audition, he was presented with a touching video from his coworkers who were cheering and rooting for him. You can see how close and connected he is with them.

His Moment

Of course, we can understand how frightening it must be to stand in front of judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan and sing a song, but Kamron put on his brave yet cheerful face and tried to shake off the anxiety.

Impressive Vocals

Kamron sang “Take on Me” by A-ha but he performed it in such a soulful and heartfelt unique way that moved the judges into asking for more.

Another Try

Before hearing the judges’ verdict, Kamron admitted that he was actually going to perform Lionel Richie’s “Truly,” so they urged him to do so because they also wanted to see what his vocals could really do, and judge Lionel Richie was even supportive when he was performing his own song.

He’s In

In the end, all three judges gave him their yeses, which meant he was up for the next round in Hollywood.
