One of the worst things you can do to yourself is not make the most out of your life. Growing up doesn’t mean having to lessen doing things that you love and excite you.
Meet Madame Poole
Suzelle Poole, also known as Madame Poole, is an 83-year-old English ballet dancer, dance teacher, and poet.
Story Of Her Life
During the war, a bomb struck Suzelle’s family’s backyard. Fortunately, none of them got hurt from the explosion.
They Moved
Her whole family moved to Canada after the war. She took her first dance lesson there and that’s when her passion for ballet started.
Young Ballerina
Suzelle’s exceptional talent for ballet showed at an early age. She was only 10 years old when she began her ballet career.
A Perfect Pair
Later on, she met an opera singer and they eventually got married and settled in Houston, Texas.
She’s A Pro
She founded her own ballet studio and taught young ballerinas who called her Madame Poole.
Why Ballet?
Madame Poole shared that her passion for ballet is inspired by her desire to help others. She said, “I like to help people. I was taught that by the people around me. And I believe ballet helps people. I have a joy for dancing. It’s definitely keeping me healthy at my age. It encourages me to move my body. Many people my age, they just sit. Dancing is good exercise.”
A Challenging Routine
In 2018, Suzelle performed a routine of the classic piece “Dying Swan” while wearing ballet shoes with wooden blocks on the toes.
They Were In Awe
The world seemed to stop as she graced the stage with her swift movements and smooth gestures.
Her Other Talents
Aside from her incredible talent in ballet, Suzelle is also fond of poetry. In fact, she has written some works, a few of which are dedicated to commemorating her grandfather and some poems about kittens.
