72-Year-Old Wedding Dress Has Been Passed Down Through 8 Brides And 3 Generations

YouTube, Inside Edition

Being a beautiful bride in a beautiful dress is one of women’s biggest dreams.

A Lifelong Dream

Every little girl has probably started planning her dream wedding at a young age – it’s one where she’s marrying her “Prince Charming” while she’s wearing the most beautiful wedding dress.

A 72-Year-Old Heirloom

Adele Larson purchased a wedding dress for $100 when she got married to Roy Stoneber in 1950, and the dress has stayed with her family since then.

Beautiful Dress

Adele purchased the dress at Chicago’s Marshall Field department store. It was a mandarin-collared satin gown with lace panels that are beautifully placed at the front and back, and is accentuated by tiny buttons.

The Second Bride

Adele gave the wedding dress to her sister, Elly Larson, who married John Milton in June 1953.

Then There Was Sharon

Elly and Adele’s younger sister, Sharon Larson, also wore the same dress when she got married to John Frank in May 1969.

The Fourth Bride

The first woman in the next generation who wore the heirloom wedding dress was Adele’s daughter, Sue Stoneberg, who got married in 1982.

Elly’s Daughters Were Next

The fifth and sixth brides to wear the dress were Elly’s daughters, Carol Milton and Jean Milton.

It’s Julie’s Turn

The wedding dress wasn’t worn by anyone in the family for ten years until Julie Frank Mackey, Sharon’s daughter, got married in 2013. This time, she made some slight adjustments to the dress by adding a ribbon hem and an open neckline.

The Eighth Bride

So far, Serena Stoneberg, Adele’s granddaughter, was the 8th and last bride in the family to wear the dress in 2022. She’s also the first of the 3rd generation to wear the heirloom wedding dress.

A Legacy

The family only entrusts the heirloom to professional cleaners, and it is being kept in storage to maintain its beauty. The names of each bride who wore the wedding dress were all stitched inside the gown, alongside the years of their respective wedding days.
