Determined Son Worked For Years To Fix 102-Year-Old Veteran Dad’s 1946 Cadillac

Reminiscing about the past gives a person an emotional feeling of nostalgia, and these memories are worth passing on to the next generations.

Meet Walt

Walt West is a 102-year-old veteran who was given an unforgettable birthday gift by his son, Harry.

A 1946 Baby

Walt just got out of World War II when he got his hands on his dream car – a 1946 Cadillac, one of the first models to roll off the assembly line after the war.

It’s Gotten Old

Sadly, Walt’s Cadillac was left unused for over 45 years, so it got worn out and wasn’t able to start again.

Harry’s Project

Harry knew how important the car was to his dad so he made it his personal mission to bring it back to life so Walt could take it out for one last spin on his 101st birthday.

Mission Failed… For Now

Harry did everything he could to restore the Cadillac before his dad’s 101st birthday, but when the day finally came, it still wouldn’t start, but this didn’t stop him.

A Rare Piece

Harry continued working on the Cadillac for another year. Luckily, he managed to track down a 1946 engine, which was the same V8 that powered M24 tanks during the war, and this gave him big hopes that he would get the car up and running for Walt’s 102nd birthday.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

When Walt’s big day came, his family found his World War II uniform that he wore during his service under General MacArthur in the Philippines, and it reminded him of a lot of surreal memories from the war that he would hold on to his whole life.

Veteran’s Day Surprise

When Veteran’s Day was around the corner, Walt’s 1946 Cadillac was already fully-capable to be taken for a ride, and he was rendered almost speechless when his family surprised him with it.

One Last Ride

Harry, along with Walt’s great-grandchildren, took his old man for one last ride in his beloved Cadillac, and we can say that it’s the best gift he could ever wish for.
