Some people have a lot of time on their hands, and thank goodness they do! Without their diligent hard work, which probably went into creating a video like the one below, life would be a bit on the downside. I am eternally grateful for the clever people who can find humour and joy wherever they go and in whatever they create. Those people are true creatives, that’s for sure.
This is an exceptional video that French YouTube channel, What’s the Mashup? (WTM) made simply for everyone’s enjoyment. This wonderful person clearly has a wicked sense of humour and is extremely creative because this is one brilliant video.
Imagine going through a bunch of your favorite Hollywood movies and picking out scenes that you think fit well together to tell a different story. That task would take time and effort, right? Not to mention a whole bunch of creativity. Well, welcome to WTM’s life. This channel carefully selected scenes from 100 movies, and wove it together to Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ “Uptown Funk” and let me just say that it’s really darn impressive. The editor took his/her time selecting appropriate scenes that match with the transitions and subtleties of the song. It’s ridiculously fun, and I can’t imagine all the time spent going through the movies and scenes and figuring out which ones should go where.
Starting right from the moment you hear a cassette player open up to insert a tape (that’s a scene from the French film “Bis”) the video takes you on an extraordinary journey through all sorts of films that fit into the song. The next clip is from “Footloose” where a young Kevin Bacon is lying in bed dancing with headphones on. Then it switches to Sylvester Stallone in “Rocky” clapping his hands wearing bright yellow shorts and a black jacket. And we are only getting started here.
The video includes clips from so many favorite films; you’re guaranteed to know a couple! Films like “Slumdog Millionaire,” “Pulp Fiction,” “The Full Monty,” “Grease,” “Mary Poppins,” “Cool Runnings,” “Mrs. Doubtfire” and dozens more. This a high-energy, mash-up that is so much fun to watch, you might end up watching it twice as I did. Or at least get up out of your chair and bob around a bit if not full-on dance! My favorite part? The last clip of “Night At The Roxbury.” The timing is just so bang on.
Make sure to turn on your subtitles if you want to know the name of the movie the clip is from.
